Hey fellas, some advice please.

I know Casso and a number of others have started local clubs to promote the sport, run comps and generally make life more fun.

In the UK we have an embryonic national association - BSUPA, but it is located in the SW and we are looking to start a club in the midlands (about 5-6 hours drive from the beaches of Cornwall but closer to other less popular beaches in the area and numerous lakes).

So, what worked for you guys?
Did you form the dreaded committees?
If so, what posts and how many people?
What did you do to get it off the ground?

Any help appreciated.
Cheers,Paul.

Nice.. I like it.

We (SupVic) have a committee and all is going well so far.

We had another meeting tonight and discussed future events.

Thanks DJ.
I believe I may have been in communication with one of your inner cabal earlier today - great advice and a big thanks due!
We may have our inaugural meet on Thursday if my wife is out of hospital in time.
Will try and get pics of the crowds

keep it simple, have social stuff for the families, find sponsors to donate prizes and get govt grants to fund the equipment, mix up the events,ie sprints, long distance races,, cruises and try to have bbq after the events, give the members something for their money.our membership at noosa for families is now $50.single membership is less.

Ok we had out first meet up, well perhaps that's overstating things a bit.
We also held the Lanlocked "Round the Island Sprint" which Ian won.

There were 2 of us on a beautiful sunny afternoon/evening, we did circuits of the lake chatting and shooting the breeze.

We have some pics and we got some footage which will be going online shortly.

We now have some idea and at least we are off the ground!!

Thanks for the advice chaps.

At last some pics, video to follow.
We have to wear a pfd at almost every inland lake and usually require 3rd party insurance.

Ian Bacon and his Red Air 10' inflatable board Winner of the first "Round the Island Sprint"!

Me on the Red Air - nice stable board, even pumped up to the max it does have a bit of give under foot which feels a little odd at first.

Loaded and ready to go home after a fun evening - we shall have more.
