Staying at the Ayoda resort in Nusa Dua Bali in 2 weeks, just wanting to know if there's any ok surf breaks in the area, that I may be able to paddle to or close by. Also not taking board so any hire places recommended would also be helpful. I'm intermediate and usually surf fanatic all wave 8'9 in 2-5ft. Any information would be great as I have not been to Bali for a very long time .

A good contact is Janke at bali-standuppaddle.org . He's based at Sanur and has Jimmy Lewis boards for hire. A nice guy to deal with.

There are breaks at Nusa Dua, as well as around the other side of Benoa Harbour at Serangan and Sanur.

I'll be there myself next week but with my own board, hopefully without being damaged by the airline . Have fun!

Hi There
ayoda is fantastic
stayed many times. Nusa dua is a sick wave.

also some smaller waves straight out the front.

I've just dropped off 4 SMIK sups for rent at ripcurl surf school in sanur.
8'2x 27.75
8'3 x 29.5
8'8 x 31.5
8'7 x 29.5 (square nose/more stable)

they also do reasonable priced boat shuttle out to the waves off of sanur and round the corner.

Arghhh how timely... I just had a few days of great waves with your 8'3, from Mick at Natural Necessity.
Great board, surfed well for its size and very well finished.
Kudos.

Boarding to Bali soon, Will have to look up Jackie Im staying in Sanur for 4 days. What should you pay for a boat trip? Also any other good adventure stuff to do in the area. Haven't been to Bali for 17 years. I'll tell the wife to shop till she drops and I'll surfmyself into a stupor.

Another plus for Jankie , the boards and location were good. I,d recommend hiring a boat to get out to the break as its 1-2 km to the waves and you start looking for a drink pretty quickly. I only had one day to SUP and the wind came up early making a mess of the waves. RipCurl also have a center there on the beach with a good stock of Windsurfers...Isonics and large no cam sails. Enjoy

Another alternative are these guys www.facebook.com/SUP-Rental-Bali-Priority-1588227308092125/?fref=ts

I have used them about 5 times over the past 6 years.

Nice paddle out to Tora Tora (near end of airport runway)

They rent boards, so all you have to do is paddle straight out the front to the waves.

Its about a 15 min scooter ride from Nusa Dua

,Although I personally prefer the Nusa Dua beach hotel and spa where I can view the sick waves at Sri lanka from my room and the nice SUP waves out front of the hotel to the right not to mention the monitor lizards that share breakfast with you by the pond, but I wont hold that against you as it's each to their own for personal enlightenment in Bali (if that still exists) as you are very close to Nikko which has a couple of softer sections that are SUP friendly IMHO but a few that aren't!, I have no idea why people are talking about catching boats as you ........have a sup!, there is nothing you cant paddle easily to in this area and you are directly in front of the Nusa Dua reef which picks up all available swell!

As for SUP rental I doubt anyone will be better value than Jankie but those new Smiks do look ....very smik indeed and I would see if you can get a good deal on one of those if you can. Personally I was really wanting a better rental paddle so you may want to consider taking one IMO if you can, I would suggest rent a car so you can open up a plethora of locations such as serangan for example, a Toyota Avanza is what you want as it fits Sups no problem and just download the Bali Google map before you go and you are set.

BUT, keep in mind if you are going soon its' really not the ideal season on the Nusa Dua side so you may need to hold off having too many Bintangs and get up early to catch it before the wind gets up.

If you're going to Bali now til October-surf the Uluwatu area all the way down to Balangin and in between are heaps of great breaks like Padang, Impossibles, Bingin, Dreamland. Stay at " Rockies" right on the water at Bingin for $30 a night. Awesome surf!!

Been here at Sanur since Sunday. Blown out and rainy Sunday/Monday but awesome glassy conditions Tuesday with consistent waves over head height. Surfed from dawn for two hours, long thick walls, sharing with two prone surfers who were out on the shoulder. Conditions you only dream about. This morning even better but bigger, sharing with only one other. Was reminded of my mortality when my aspirations outstripped my capabilities! ?? A thick barrel collapsed on me and by the time I came to the surface I was in the lagoon. No-one else was out yet so I was able to lie there on my board coughing and spluttering before regaining my composure. By the time the prone surfer joined me I was taking a safer, more conservative approach! Still, it's better than hassling with 50 others on one of the western side breaks.

Hey Scott

What is the volume of the 8 ' 7 " Smik, I am heading to Sanur in November, went in March also hired from Janke and caught the rip curl boat out to the breaks, cost was about $10 from memory. I ride a 9 ' 5 mana over here and average super. Would be handy to hire from Rip Curl if the 8 ' 7 not to small, for me. I weigh 90kgs . 63 years young don't like to struggle in the surf.

thanks mate

Hi Dhusouth,

Tanjung Sari rights so far. Great waves and conditions early morning. Just have to curb my ambitions sometimes or suffer the pain. Over to the west side for five days next week before finishing up back here for a few days at the end of the month. No board hassles, the new Flow is awesome and I brought over two paddles this time

Thanks Dean.
Jankes boat was out of action went we were there , so that's why we went to the Rip Curl boats. The girls behind the counter were pretty good on the eye so we didn't mind at all. Can't wait to go back and do a bit more exploring .

Hi Guys,
we do deliver to every where in the Island.
just check in our web site for the choice of boards from Jimmy Lewis: www.bali-standuppaddle.org
Yes our boat is not always working but on the beach you can use Froggy in front of Mercure or even Rip Curl that always have people and boats ready.
Putu also good.. Everyone charge around 50.000 rp (5 AU$) to go and pick you up from the reef.
We are not on the beach so if you just walk around you will not find us.
That is why we ask to make an appointment or a reservation well in advance.
We are at our HQ in a small resort just 100 meters from the beach on demand..
You will also find in our web site a spot guide with the SUP rating in case you are confuse about where to go.
Hope this can help.
Ciao Jankie

PS. our rental prices are 1/3 then other while we still offer about the best boards around.

PS2. this is trade wind time in Bali the east coast Sanur/Nusa Dua have on shore wind so is not the best for SUP Between June to end of August... You may get lucky and have some morning with no wind but they are more the exception then the norm

Hi Jankie, I am staying in Legian at the moment and it is blown out over here. Do you have a pickup service from here? If not is it best to cab or use a driver. Once over there can you book a boat Or just turn up.

cheers
