Are you looking for any kind of race or something more specific (DW vs flat water for instance)? It's not Sydney obviously but the Saucy Jack Challenge is on this coming weekend in Newcastle harbour.
And whilst it's strictly speaking not a race per se, there's the sunday morning time trials at Jamieson Park Paddle in Narrabeen. 5km's, can be pretty social or pretty serious depending upon what you want – plus you get breakfast and a coffee afterwards as part of your $10 entry fee!
