There are 2 different style races on offer at this year's Australian Longboard Surfing Open in Kingscliff on 29th March!
The first is the River Race which this year is sponsored by local crew MONGOBOARDS. This race, which is approx 3k paddle up and back along Cudgen Creek, not only gives entrants (particularly novice paddlers) the opportunity to paddle a great course, but also the chance to win a New Sup Board and more from our sponsors!
The second SUP race on offer at this event is the Kingscliff Battle of the Paddle which will be run in a one lap - multiple heat - elimination format that will see the first half of finishers from each heat go through to a semi final, and the second half going into a repercharge for a second chance to make the finals! Entrants will get to paddle at least two laps of the course even if eliminated in first round. Course map below
This year the KBOP is generously sponsored by HOBIE SUP Aust who have not only given prize money and support for this race but are also event sponsors for the SUP Pro Surfing! (Surfing details will be put up on a separate SB event and forum post)

I like the format of the bop race. Can you enter on the day?
that's a great little course. really good chance of actually surfing waves in
yet protected enough to not have everybody looking like fools get smashed paddling out

Should be able to enter on the day for the bop, but i'm not 100% sure so don't quote me on it. Have asked Sean so will let you know as soon as I know.
Definitely would make organising a lot easier if everyone entered beforehand tho.

Yep, its a good little corner in there, banks are looking pretty good at Kingy at the moment too so should be no shortage of waves.
