Nearly 2 years of SUPping in Port Pirie SA and there and it's still just 1 (me) + a windsurfer guy who made a board out of an old windsurfer but haven't seen him for quite a while. A lot of people interested but not happy to fork out the big bucks it takes to start up.......YET They still think it's wierd that a guy is paddling around on a surfboard when there are no waves within 400km......lol
Hey Casso, I reckon i know 90% of the regular SUP surfers on the Tweed Coast by name, so i wrote down the names and it comes to 16 (14 male + 2 female). Plus about another 6 of the 14 guys' wives/partners who like to stillwater paddle in the creeks. The blokes include a former Qld State of Origin and Wallaby legend who is quite handy. Of the 16, 5 are pretty much on the SUP fulltime, another 6 are 50/50 SUP and shortboard and the other 5 are mostly shortboard surfers who get on the SUP from time to time for some fun. Jed whos the footie player? Over the past few weeks I am seeing more and more SUP's on cars heading up and down the GC highway.
