I'm keen to do a paddle across to Phillip Island on Monday and the conditions look perfect.

My plan is to paddle across from Crib Point to Tankerton on French Island.. Then across to Cowes on Phillip Island for lunch before paddling back.

Anyone else keen?

Forecast for Monday
Winds: East to northeasterly 5 to 15 knots tending southeasterly 15 to 20 knots
during the afternoon then easing 10 to 15 knots late at night. Seas: Around 0.5
metres increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon.

That'll be a fair effort bro.

Last Saturday I went for a paddle on my 12' Glide from the Royal National Park across Port Hacking to Miranda and it was an interesting exercise !

Saw sharks and scared the cripes out of myself and felt very alone in the middle of the Bay, sharks, boats and no where to run. Then turned into Yowie Bay with a nor'easter blowing straight toward me and pushing me backwards for the home run.

Not in any hurry to try it again so I hope you have better luck.

It's not that far.. It's about the same as our down-winders to Sandy.. and back..

It sould take no more than two hours to get to Cowes and maybe less coming back if the south-easter kicks in..

We did it before.. Sort of.. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=39752

I'm up for a dawny on Monday but can't do the frenchy - I have to go to work, but I'm happy to see you off.

The Philip Island thing isn't difficult - done it half of it before - I reckon about 4 - 5 hours paddling. Should be perfect conditions on Monday.

Anyone up for an arvo surf at Pines tomorrow?

I'm going to dawn paddle around the StKilda pier around 7am. That's early enough and strenuous enough for me on a Monday morning.

After making a few calls I've decided to pull the pin on tomorrows crossing paddle and we'll wait till a few other keen paddlers can join me.

Shame cos it would have been perfect..

I'll also be down at St Kilda but not till about 10am (miss peak hour traffic) .. It's looking like a beautiful day..
