Hi just wondering if anyone has SUP surfed at Playgrounds or anywhere at Nusa Lembongan. I would like to take my SUP but have heard of crowds so not sure what to expect and if it is worth the travel effort with an 8 footer.
Can take surfboard instead but im a much better SUP than proner.
any tips be great.
Going end of April also if time changes things.
cant seem to find any info on net regarding SUP surfing, just flat water sup and prone surfing.
cheers

Playgrounds is like kiddies corner, a soft slower wave, you can hire sups on the beach in the corner of the bay

Nice spot nusa. I supped playgrounds but only tiny. I think itd be ok with a little size. Sharp reef though.

Shipwrecks was pumping at the same time. I had a look but itcwas too fast for me and very shallow and sharp on the inside also. No room For straightening out. Great barrels but you want to be able to ride fast and confident... and be prepared to lose skin. Crowd was ok but i wasnt catching many waves or getting in anyones way. Also i watched it and waited for the crowd to thin out before going out.

If you go take a board, if not itll be perfect. Itll be a lot easier to hire a surfboard over there than a sup. On the otherhand, if youve got to lug a sup around via scooter etc that can be challenging. Though i managed ok with an 8'10"

If Gili Islands are breaking, Desert point is pumping, there is a right hander there, but as its tucked in under Lombok it doesn't get a lot of swell, hence the diving is good

we were there last year and everyone on the trip loved it. Playgrounds is very forgiving and enjoyable but you can also paddle to lacerations from there in 10 mins or so.
Take your own board, fly to Bali then take the ferry from Sanur across to Nusa lembongan

I have hired a board off the beach and also took my 9'6 last year.... Playgrounds is a great wave and it wasn't too crowded while I was there. Didn't see too many short SUP's for hire there though as they cater more for the recreational paddler but you never know. There is also a cranking LH break on the SW side (end) of Nusa Ceningan (island next to Lembongan) but you can only get over there by scooter... Haven't surfed it yet but did drool a little bit watching the few that were out.

Haven't seen much on Gilli T, but if it was breaking it would be fast and shallow.....

Heaps of waves there for SUP .. it was fun .. Check out Bali Vbox Porchey on you tube the 2nd Part of the clip might look familiar. On a 7'3" . I just went in when it got crowded. I gave away a lot of waves. Crowd was chilled.
