Hi,

I'm heading to the Smiths Lake/Seal Rocks/Forster area this weekend with my dad for a surfing weekend. We both have longboards and I have a stand up paddle. I'm looking for somewhere within the area that might hire stand up paddle boards so we can both get out on them - looking to give him a treat for fathers day but getting out there on your own when your buddy is stuck in the breakers isn't as fun. Google searched to no avail - any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

There was a shop over the Bridge on the Tuncurry side of Foster with a couple of PSH boards out the front at xmas time, but looking on Google street view looks like it's not there any more.
NNSUP spends a bit of time up that way he might have a better idea, when he reads this

FORSTER AREA - A great area to paddle but currently no one servicing anything in hire. Jungle Surf in Tuncurry sell new boards and they would be the best bet to see if they have something to hire. Joey at Iguana Surf in the main street of Forster is one of the main paddlers up there and he's always happy to give you directions.
The boat hire place opposite the pub has a couple of old boards which you can take out the front of their shop.
Lots of great paddling and I paddle with dolphins every time I paddle from the entrance down to the island airport.
SMITHS LAKE- The Frothy Coffee hires Canoes and might be an option.
SEAL ROCKS - nothing unfortunately.

Your best bet would be to go and see someone in Sydney and take a board up with you. If the surf is small the place is an unbelievable flatwater paddle spot.

Just spoke to Joey at Iguana and he can probably put you in touch with someone up there who has 1 or 2 boards to hire.
Iguana Surf - ask for Joey 02 6557 6688
Hope that helps.

You could try the boatshed at Tiona (wallis lake side) use to hire out windsurfers, cats etc haven't been there in years but worth a look on your way to Forster

Why not hire one before you go for the weekend and take it with you then you will be sure to have a board for Dad and you can both enjoy the sytoke.
