Did anyone catch that last episode of Bondi Rescue with the yoga SUP girl on it? Is it me or did that not do anything for SUP? I think we came off more kooky than usual ...

Pfff. What is it with "The Shire" anyway like it's the only shire in the world.
Have you ever noticed if somebody is from Cronulla they say Cronulla. If you are from any other suburb other then Cronulla it's "I'm from the Shire" e.g. Caringbah, Kirawee, Menai, etc. Even Illawong claims they are part of the Shire - big joint that Shire.
P.s. Greg, have you have been auditioning for upcoming reality soapy 'The Shire'

Gee Shire bashing on Sea Breeze too. I thought that was reserved for the Daily Telegraph.
I don't live there anymore and rarely surfed Cronulla, but there is a lot worse places to live. Eastern Suburbs people- I'm sending that your way......

PS dont come down my way either.

Ease up on Charlotte, shes doing some pretty amazing things with S.U.P gaining huge publicity branching out of the norm and doing things that no-ones doing or can do! Half the media about S.U.P in SYDNEY this season has been about Charlotte! She may not be the strongest paddler and thats why she specialises in SUP YOGA and only teaches in FLAT WATER i take all the surf sessions my self! Charlottes currently being trained by me personally and will probably surf better than half of you in 12 months ha ha hope so!!! Shes out there on her own trying to get good in the waves and got baged ?? Shes not in the salon talkin **** well maybe sometimes but shes out there with the boys having a go! Give the lady a break and give it up for someone with a huge heart and more guts than most!! Not sure how many chicks around our area charge down wind solo at her level?? But i do know how many people kooked out when they first starting Supping in the waves.Dont fool yourself fellas we all werent pro's to start with! And to be honest S.U.P in waves is hard, ask anyone that hasnt got there head stuck up there arse! P.S Im not from the shire im from CRONULLA..Wat up!

Mingos, everyone has to start somewhere and I am taking nothing away from Charlotte or her yoga SUP, however, being that far out in those conditions on your own is simply not wise. I have surfed for the last 38 years and spent a number of years at sea so Im not a noob having a panic attack. Simple fact is if your heading off downwind away from shore then I am all in favour of never ever going alone and always having a pfd on.

Cool.. i understand your concern there and i agree she should have worn a pfd and not gone solo for sure! I think she learnt a good lesson that day...valid point and i would not of approved of it! But i'm not down for people posting stuff up about her trying to bring her down in any way.Lets help her out, open ocean knowledge takes years like you said. She pushed her own boundaries to far that day and and paid the price! We have all have done it before...i can remember a fair few big days paddling out and being pretty hung ova and paid the price! Didnt get saved though ha ha i guess its kinda funny...p.s shut up Dylan you little ****!!!

Mingos I meant that Im not a noob to the ocean, and a noob is apparently a New Person to any undertaking (Im starting to pick up the language of the kids now my son is using more of it in high school). Once again Mingos, I am not putting her down and I applaud anyone who is improving their skills, but we all need to be aware of the personal responsibility of safety that we have to ourselves.

I love your part about "is it me or did that not do anything for SUP"???

are we part of a crazy church cult? are we trying to sell ourselves like cheap hookers??

man if you look at it from the "getting new people into the sport" angle then 99% of the crew that SUP are bad publicity.

I think having a chick doing something different on a SUP is a great way to get people into it, especially chicks.

OK she might have made a small mistake (which you learn from pretty quick) but if you watch the episode, she actually stayed quite calm and just waited for assistance.

theres been plenty of incidents shown in the media where the person in question has panicked or dramatised the situation, i think for a predominately flat water paddler, she did pretty good, and showed far more experience then others ever would.

get off this bloody forum and go paddling...

yup strong offshore definitely but was massive over kill. The lifesavers with the helicopter there - they must be really busy the helicopter service to follow a stand up paddleboarder. I spoke to her and she reacons if she was actually in trouble she would have laid on the board and paddled it in on her belly or signalled for help if she required it…she's not that proud. Sure she's learning but so am I and she introduced this new sport to me which I can hardly do. As a waterman all my life - I thought this would easier but my custard core and poor judgement with what I was actually dealing with kept the tail between my legs. The funny thing is she gets smashed and gets in heavy positions and she's definitely as calm as Mark Matthews in Big Waves…all jokes aside she's having a go. Seen her get smashed and she gets back on the horse…a lot of people wont do that.

so if you want to see more, she aint new to TV.

au.yahoo.com?err=404&err_url=abu-live-oob.media.yahoo.com:4443/sunrise/video/-/watch/28722813/grant-goes-yoga-paddle-boarding/

gotta feel a little sorry for her, you make 1 mistake and you end up on prime time TV. Yeah we have all ended up out of our depth, literally, but to have a camera in your face has to suck...

well done cronulla sup, you can't buy that exposure!

Hey Todd,

Good to see you finally on Seabreeze mate. You may recall that upwinder we did from Shelley around to the bay this time last year. It wasn't what I expected but a great workout and an experience. You may recall your response when I asked why you weren't on Seabreeze, that problem isn't around much anymore.
