I have spoken to Santa (he was round asking for a pair of boardies so he could go for a SUP, seems his were too small) and he has promised that he will talk to Huey, Mother Nature and who ever else is needed to be spoken too so will get blue sky, warm weather, calm winds and swell in time for (insert drum roll) ......

THE SUPSA XBUWHDDCCAAGM EVENT !!!!!!!!!

When: Sunday the 6th December 2009
Where: Palm Beach Parklands
Time: 8.00am

So what is on this time I hear you all yelling ............ ok ok, here it is,

World's Hugest Demo Day (held on the GC this December so far) - We currently have a number of people lining up to display the good stuff that will find it's way it many xmas stockings around the place on Christmas Day .. confirmed so far are;
ROAR Industries (Naish, PSH, LSD, Simon Anderson), Greenline Paddle Surf (MacTavish, Ron House, Starboard, C4 Waterman), Secret Agent Designs(Surf, 12'6 Race Boards and 17ft Race Boards), Matt Walker from Paddle SurFitness, Deep Ocean Boards.
Others that were invited have yet to confirm attendence but am sure that they will do so real soon (hint hint guys!!)

Also for the kids and 62Mac, Santa will be there handing out boiled lollies ... how he gets there is still being worked out.

To showcase the sport to all those people that no will no doubt be crowding around to see all the toys, we will also run the previously postponed Club Champions Races ... those wishing to compete in these events but are not SUPSA members can do so subject to paying $10 one day membership fee. I will pull out the list of prizes, sponsors and race details and post again later on.

The SUPSA BBQ will be on fire again burning sausages very slowly as will the SUPSA bucket of ice be filled up with cooling beverages. There will also be some adult beverages at the bottom of the bucket this time.

More details to come so watch this space ok!!

Cheers

For those of you that are new to the forum "SUPSA" is the Gold Coast based SUP club, affiliated to Surfing Queensland.

This is our last comp of the year and it also doubles up as our "Xmas party" and AGM.

We are looking for new blood to stand on the committee for next year. All positions are open and we would urge members to put up their hands and have a go - "Stand up and be counted". This is open to SUPSA members only so if you are not yet a member you can sign up on the day.

Hey Chris, not one to tell grandma how to suck eggs but what are the chances of staging a paddling technique clinic on the day? Hosted by a world class paddler.

Would Woogie do it? (what do you reckon Jodie?) I would be more than happy to pay $$ for a session of stroke correction from him. IMHO he has the best style of anyone. If there were enough of us willing to kick in some bucks it might make it worthwhile for Woogie or another respected paddler to do a one-off clinic. I am thinking more for the distance paddlers / racers / downwind enthusiasts but there's no reason why the surfing-only crew couldn't participate as well.

It would be sensational to get some on-the-water technique coaching from someone who knows. Online tips and advice are OK but can only take you so far I reckon.

Just a thought.

Jed, keep the ideas coming buddy. The more ideas the better. Unfortunately the Noosa guys and girls have got their day on the same day, had invited Jodie and Woogie down for the day to demo their paddles. Bummer.

I have asked a Paddle School along but have not got a yes or no as yet. Will follow them up tonight.

Hey Jed, we have been down the coast for the last couple of weekends and we have our Beach Boy Club Day on the same day. It is also Beach Boys last one for the year and Santa is coming also - Well I had to get Santa's little helper since SUPSA got big Santa first.

Need to work out when all the clubs are having there days so we don't clash and we can do road trips. I know Maroochydore are the 2nd Sunday I thought SUPSA was the 3rd Sunday thats why we went with the first Sunday in each month.

Any way Woogie is going Paddle Fit classes on Saturday Morning always welcome to come join in.

Try contact Billy or Jamie.

Work something out for the start of next year.

Hey Chris not sure if you are aware but most of the foreshore grassed areas at the parklands have been fenced of for some reason today. Looks like some sort of major construction going on (probably another bloooody pirate ship)

Driving along the Gold Coast Highway towards Currumbin, it is the park on your left before the Currumbn bridge. Look out for the big pirate ship.

To all those keen on getting into downwinders on the Gold Coast (and further afield) we are having a get together as part of the last SUPSA event of the year.

There will be a few different boards around but feel free to bring your equipment down too (if you have any).

Anyone is welcome to come along, even if you are not a SUPSA member. There will be a mixture of experienced and novices so don't be shy.

Here is the forcast for Sunday. It looks like the wind should be ok and there should also still be a bit of swell around.
