What a great day and it was so good to see everyone with a Sup business on the Gold Coast there supporting it. We had Jacko there from Roar industries , Macca from Greenline , Troy from Secret agent , Dale Chapman , Honolua. I also saw a JS board and Chris Garret (hope I didn't forget anyone) . This is going to grow into something huge and full credit goes to the guys who put together.I got try some great boards , there was close to 30 boards there to demo.I finally got a ride on the 9-3 ripper which was great.

Membership is only $50 which includes a great T-Shirt , I really would like to encourage everyone to get behind this and support it. There were a few cameras there today and here are a few of my shots.

The quiver most of the other boards were out on the water

Thanks for keeping my head off seabreeze,Piros!
It was great to see Roar and Greenline, without
great industry people such as Jacko Angie and
Macca, such events would not happen.I missed
catching up with Drewsta, bugger I wanted to demo
his new baby.
I headed off a little early as word was out the surf was
picking up down south.I paddled out and got sucked over
the falls and eat sand big time,my head is still ringing and
my neck is in trouble! oh it was my first bloody wave
Anyway, thanks to all and this club is going to be HUGE!
The walkins where amazing,so many people asking and paddling
for the first time,great venue!

Hey all,

Looked like a great day. Was this a day specifically for the industry or was anyone allowed to show up and have a go. What was the $50 membership for? Please excuse the ignorance as I have been short boarding all weekend as Polsy is fixing my SUP, so I haven't been checking in on the forums so that I wouldn't get too anxious. This is the kind of day I need to get my head around what shorter board I should buy in the future.

As Rob says, it was a great day. First and foremost thanks to all that came along and we really do hope you had fun.
A big thanks to all the industry guys, it was fantatstic and without you guys and gal (Angie, that's for you) today would not have been as big as it was. Thanks to Jazz for bringing the massage table along as well, reckon that it would have been used heaps more if the swell arrived earlier than it did.
Thanks to Marty and Troy for assembling the bbq in the park early this morning, and thanks to Mike for all the work on the BBQ serving up the snags and onions. If I have missed anyone sorry, but thanks to you too.
There is some 40 pics on my camera, will post some when I get a chance.
Personally, I was really stoked to see so many families come along and then see the kids out paddling and playing around on the boards. Also was fantastic to see so many women paddling and having a ball.

Hey J dub, I was thinking the same before I arrived,I asked Jacko as to wtf is this all about? The quest is to meet ever month and its all about family and freindship
btw ,I met a great couple who I see surfing every week and never invade their space in the water until today,it was great!I also met a guy I have not seen for 25 years WOW!see second pic from Piros's post guy on left! No comps, just a monthly get together for like minded peoples It was amazing watching people come up and ask for a go and ask what are these long things?and at no stage did anyone ask is I wanted to become a member,it was all cool no bs sales stuff! Its got my vote and look forward to the next meeting! J dub Im not one for promoting people for self gain but without the industry people who made this event happen, we would not be talking about a fantastic day! come on next month
Last but not least J' if they let me come along sh-t anyone can

This is for anyone who sups or wants to get into , one of the goals is for the different SUPSA divisions to compete eg: Gold Coast v Sunny Coast .A few of us got together and merged with the short board clubs like M&M and put in a Sup division but that went all pear shaped with some of the older crew wanting to keep the club to it's roots , even the Currumbin board riders said no.

There are more than enough Suppers on the Gold Coast to form our own club and this is the start . It's a great way to meet other people and try heaps of new boards and gear and you can involve the whole family.

In years to come we won't be the novelty event at Noosa surf festival or the Malfunction we will be running our own major events but for this to happen we to get behind Chris and the boys and give this a nudge.

Going by todays turn out I can really see this snowballing.

Piros,

Keep the info coming to us all. Sounds like a great idea that we should support.

You get my vote the official "publicity/media manager" for SUPSA.

How did you like the 9'3 Ripper?

I only got to flat water paddle it , it floated my 88kg fine and it turns on a dime kick turns are very easy, it doesn't track that well which made it only average for flat water paddle speed.

Just looking at the board you know it will surf but I didn't get a chance to take it out.

Yesterday's event was a Membership Drive for SUPSA and at the same time we invited all SUP related businesses to come along and showcase their services to the public. Very kindly, those industry people that attended donated their time and efforts to support the re launch of SUPSA for 2009.
Next months event will different in theme, but the format will be the same, "come along, bring the family, get out there, and have fun".
We learnt alot from yesterday, and there will be a few subtle changes that will make the days go off even bigger and better.

Hey Oi,

You can send an email to [email protected] and we will send you an Application form. We are trying to get this posted on the forum so this should also be an option soon.

The SUPSA (Stand Up Paddle Surfers Australia Inc) is a Gold Coast based club that will try and represent all of the aspects of the sport (Wave riding, Long Distance, Creek/Dam paddling and anything else that you can do on a SUP).

We formulated a new committee a few months back and are hoping that you will all support the club.

We welcome feedback so that we know what everyone wants to see from the club. We are all working people and do not have all of the answers, so the more feedback we get the better we can represent our members.

Here are the current committe members:

Ross Munro - President
Mike Manning - Vice President
Chris McCall - Secretary
Troy Peasey - Treasurer
Phil Gregory - Contest Director

One of the things that we decided to do was offer both Mick Dibetta and Jamie Mitchell free membership of the club. This is in recognition of them starting SUPing in Australia some 4/5 years ago. They were the first and we owed them this recognition.

Thanks to everyone who came down for this event. We look forward to seeing you all again at the next one (spread the word and bring your mates).

Cheers
