so i've been out on my board a few times since all these recent shark attacks, and i must admit, SUPing by myself kind of freaked me out at the beginning, as i was constantly expecting to be chomped down by a shark

I'm kind of getting less freaked out the more i go out, probably because i haven't spotted a shark yet. oh, actually, that's a lie, i did see a baby grey nurse right on the shallows at Shelley beach whilst out on the board. but other than that there's been nothing

so i'm wondering how many other SUPers around sydney, specifically around the manly area have spotted any sharks whilst out on their boards.

i'd also like to know where all the SUPers are!! As ever since I got my board, whenever i'm out on the water (either Shelley or Little Manly), i haven't seen a single SUPing soul and i was thinking maybe there's safety in numbers ?!?!!

Thats easy, just dont fall off Theres sharks everywhere, your safer on a sup than a shortboard, dont worry about it

If your really concerned Dale Chapaman fits shark guards to customers boards , he said they are incredibley powerful as he has accidently turned them on when fitting them and been zapped , he has 2 in stock if anyone wants one , you can also fit them yourself.

OK the quicksilver pro's on ATM, 3 comp guy's out and 2 groms surfing the south wall.A pack of bait fish swim in followed be a 2 mtr shark,which swims directly under the groms! In today's local paper they ran a story regarding the recent shark attacks,they say no confirmed shark sightings during the weekend btw, I know both groms and they don't make up stories about sharks anyway!

I believe there well be more attacks on humans,so that in mind AA's advice is very important!

I do also agree there will be heaps more attacks in the next ten years, as great whites are now a protected species since 95 I think, and I know quite a few pro fishermen and they say they have never seen so many young great whites around, great whites are 3m by about 3 yr of age and can live untill 8o yrs or so.
So dont get me started another thing these airy fairy greenies have to answer for, just like locking up the forests for years and never doing controlled burn offs , and then geez the place burns like all f***k and they wonder why, In some ways these guys have blood on there hands. I never beleive in catching and killing every shark, but catching the odd rouge great white in inshore waters, whilst the ocean has never been so overfished used to keep things in balance, they are normally an offshore beast so If one kept hanging around Inshore waters and It got caught so be it.

Hey Tans, i'm a like AA in over 40 years of surfing i've seen about 3, and yes they are there. AA suggestions are good, also dogs in the water and river mouths after storms are a big no no. Tans according to the guru of shark hunters Vic Hislop, there are so many great whites around philip island & western port he couldn't believe a surfer wouldn't get taken. That was 7 years ago! **** i hope i haven't jonared us all. Tans just relax have fun, what will be will be.

I wonder how many people died from bee stings this year already , just another media beat - up.Yes those people who got mauled where very unfortunate and i feel for them.But Attacks are very rare.
