I went to Sandy this morning to catch up with DJ and some others. I got there early, and the wind was getting up, so I decided to head for the Yarra river instead. I ended up driving past Albert Park lake, it looked calm, and sunny, so I put the board in there instead. It took about 40 mins to paddle right around the lake. Flat water, out of the wind, and the added advantage of watching the female joggers on the track! Lucky I didn't fall in.
I'm going to include the lake on my list of places to train on from now on, especially if conditions are bad on the bay.
DJ, could be closer for you as well?

A winner in its self right there being able to admire the scenery , nothing like hot female joggers in tight pants.

Hi JD...I'm keen for sure....I'd love to do it when the F1's are there....(I'm a fan)

I remember trying to windsurf on Albert Park Lake once..I was just learning and on a wally...So geees..it musta been 35 yrs ago (doesn't time fly when you're havin' fun)...

Anyway...I parked nearby...carried all my gear down to the waters edge and noticed this odd guy watching..I figured that he'd never seen a windsurfer before..and he watched as I rigged and set everything up...Got into my wetsuit and started to drag my board into the water..

Then he walked over and said.."I wouldn't do that if I were you"...I asked why...He pointed to a nearby sign..I walked over and read it and it said 'No unauthorized watercraft..Fine $200'

Sheesh!...What a bugger....He could have said something before I got all set up...I didn't risk it and packed up.

Did you notice any of these signs?..after 35yrs the fine could be up to $500 now..

I'll go past one day soon and suss it out...We don't want any expensive suprizes..

But then...How good were the girls?...It might just be worth it..

I seem to remember at one of the F1's they ran Windsurfing racing on the lake at the same time. I guess to add to the colour of the weekend.

Didn't see any signs at the lake, but then again, I wasn't looking at signs! I'll check it out next time I'm going past.
They have a lot of rowers on the lake, obviously there are a few rowing clubs there, so I guess they would have approval anyway.
