So a few more sups getting down that way now, I don't mind surfing there when I am the only sup but when there are 6+ out the vibe starts to change a bit (from surfers and probably for good reason). I would rather surf elsewhere but when southerlies blow for weeks straight it is the easy option. How many sup riders can that place handle at one time before people start to get pissed off, I try to be as low profile as possible but can tell surfers are hating sup's being out there..

personally, i don't think any sup should be at snapper, maybe sometimes off rainbow, however most of the time wide greenmount is probably the least offensive place for a sup to be.

how many sups- i don't know

Saw a bad drop in this morning. This shortboarder was hooting down the line at warp speed from in front of the rock Greeny. He is easily going to make it when a girl with nice legs on a SUP and wearing a hat wobbles in then falls of the back rignt in front of him. The Sber looked like Joel Parkinson with tatts and I thought he was very polight when they came up.

What board do you ride poseidon?I'll say hi next time

There's one chap out there on a psh blue rails that is p-ssing off a lot.
Word is he lives across the road and just moved from the northern
beaches.

I heard about a nasty drop in today at Greenie involving a sb'er.

I agree with Lacey wide at Greenie no worries FULL STOP!!!!!!!

well thats the point, the more out there the more incidents and the sooner sups will be "socially banned" so to speak out there. Doubt SB's would let it get like the alley, I might even switch to shortboard again out there.

SUPs are my favorite tool in the ocean, but I'd never surf one at Snapper or Rainbow, maybe Greenie if it wasn't crowded, just can't see the point in surfing to dodge people rather then surf the wave, regardless of the type of board I'm using. Stay wide like Lacey said or go elsewhere with less crowds.

So who has right of way again ? I saw a post recently stating SUPs should give way to SB cause they are bigger. Well then what about long boarders ?

I'll confirm that one. I was on a prone 7fter. The girl was wide but the sber came from a long way inside at speed. She just didn't look, and i'm not sure she could have pulled out even if she did. There wasn't a scene or anything. Everyone was pretty cool but it just didnt look good.

Part of the problem was the bigger waves were lining up right thru. If you were wide, you had to be aware and pick your wave.

Use the SUP where they were intended to be used in fat slow or uncrowded waves unless you are Tom Carroll, Piros, Jacko etc. But in saying that I was watching Snapper on Swellnet surfcam and saw 50 S/Boarders drop in on other S/boarders all in the space of two minutes. Apparently if you think you are a better surfer than the person already on the wave it is allowed at Snapper? The 3 Suppers I saw out there were really wide of the point and down near the Groyne and it looked like there was no one else around but whilst watching them it appeared that they may have not be overly experienced in surf etiquette. Unfortunately you live close to Surfer's Paradise or was that Suffers hell!!!! Come down to Inverloch it's 3-4 ft , offshore nobody out...... oh it's also 7 degrees outside with hail the size of golf balls coming down. It's a matter of perspective

Its Greenmount probably the most surfed spot on the East Coast it could have been a surfski, clubbie ski, 10x23x3 green and white striped longboard a stalled jetski, an inner tube full of pommie backpackers, its like a game of footy someones always gonna play dirty,
If ya do surf there on your SUP or whatever else and you damage a board or human be prepared to put your hand in your pocket and fix things if its your fault

Like always, it comes down to having the ability to control the craft your using, conditions on the day & common sense of respecting all others in the line up regardless of what they're riding.

Snapper is full of s/boarders & l/boarders of all levels, groms & adults learning, surf skis, bodyboarders, bodysurfers, prone paddlers...why should SUP's be singled out & banned ?

Snapper is no different than SUP's out at Haleiwa or Pipe etc but who's going to say to Kainoa or Bonga etc that by riding a SUP they could be putting others at risk ? The person who is really putting others at risk is the one who doesn't know how to get out of their path when required.

If someone has a problem with any type of craft being used at Snapper they paddled out in the wrong spot in the first place.
Same as the Alley, I paddled out there a couple of months ago on a SUP, before I even caught a wave a guy on a 7ft fish gave me attitude (after I said hello to him) simply because I was on a SUP & he thought I was only a SUP'r, I then asked to swap boards & never heard from him again.

Watch someone like Jackson Close SUP from behind the rock on even the heaviest days in full control, what he pulls off I think is inspiring.
As with most crew though, I'd rather not SUP Snapper & only short board simply because I have the best control on a short board if a situation arises where-as I have to dodge 100 heads :)

Who has right of way in any line up, especially at a place like Snapper ?
Like anywhere, it's usually the guy waiting the longest on the inside who will commit when it's their turn, you show you can handle it then 99% of the time, no-one will have a problem with you regardless of what you're on.
