Sorry if this is already covered somewhere - couldn't find it.

What precautions should be taken with a SUP on a hot beach? Is the board bag good enough? Should I release the valve/vent?

I have a Naish Hokua X32 8'8" LE (the bag is white on one side and black on the other) and a Starboard 9'5" AST (silver bag).

And what about in a car?

Thanks for your help.

not what i was expecting

but anyway

i have a carbon starboard ace and i have to take the vent plug out even when the covers shiny side up, if its sunny because it gets that hot

your call i spose, cant comment on how hot your car gets, it's better to be safe than sorry i spose so more or less if in doubt i would take it out

Avoid sun if possible. If in a bag, open the zip to vent out the hot air, especially is the board is wet to avoid osmosis bubbles.

If you cannot find any shade, a good trick is to leave the board on the side to minimize the amount of sun energy received. On sand, just dig a small trench with the foot, put the board on the rail, and block with sand on the side. Or lean on the paddle.
