I just got back from the 27th Annual Mambo Wave sailing classic, were i spent majority of my time sailing on the Naish 11'6" SUP. This turned out to be more fun than I initially anticipated. I used a 4.7m Naish Force, which felt perfect. I sailed in conditions that would normally be labeled un-sailable, rode waves and had an absolute blast. I even ended up placing 3rd in the Wavesailing. I usually kite all Mambo, but this year, I think I would have been lucky to clock up 3 hours, the rest of the time I was SUP sailing! If you haven't tried sailing your SUP yet, your only getting half the joy out of your purchase! Light winds and clean waves go off. I was sailing in anything from 3 - 10 knots, and found the board amazing, getting lip hits and classic cut backs. It seems SUP has something for nearly every condition, loving it!

I hope you all give it a try.

I have to agree with you JB.

I was one of those siting on the beach hoping for more wind and watching you having a ball out there in next to no wind.

I spent most of my time sup'ing around the inlet..and at the bar beach.

I must have seen at least 20 large stingrays over the week that I was there..Jeez what a beautiful place.

Here's a couple of pictures.

First looking right (south) into the kitesurfing area.

Looking left (north) into the sailboarding section.

I think it was mostly Naish and Starboard sup's that were being sailed.

I must get myself one...btw I loved the look of your 10'6" Naish.

Yeah DJ,

The Bar was going off, I was very suprised at how much fun we all had up there, I actually enjoyed it more than any sailing I have done at any Mambo before!

It's such an easy equation, 1 sail + 1 board + 1 paddle = every condition!

I hope to see more SUP's sailing around the north coast here, as it is perfect for the winds we get.

The 10'6" is super sweet, surfs really well, and 11'6" is just too much fun, there was rarely a time when the 11'6" were on the beach, they clocked up some big hours.

JB,
Ever heard of a starboard aero 127 litre? Wavesailing in 0-10 knots. Sailing an SUP is fun but if you want to get some serious turns in light winds, try one of these out. 235m long with the same rocker as a waveboard. Its f___en cool.

Ah, but does it also paddle and surf well? The Naish SUP is amazing in all fields!

I really think the classic Stand Up designs Offer more WAY more versatility and drive. i think they work alot better in the big stuff too

but for what its worth here is the footage of a dude riding the starboard Aero

he gets some pretty good rides!

As impressive as that looks, he actually isn't really catching the waves any early than a surfer would prone paddling. Sup still kick it big time.
