Thanks, That kind of puts my mind to rest, I was planing on taking my sup, and like a 7'0 big guy short board, wanted the choice to ride either one, didn't want the choice made for me by some local guy, based on people prior to me. I have heard such horror stories about that place, like the locals ganging up on guys and taking and burning their boards, following sup surfers to where they are staying and like giving them hell, etc etc.. I usually give 3 waves to every wave I surf, plus don't mind being to the side of where everyone else is, of course its always nice to get a few nice waves. I have one more question, how about the ranch? same goes? or is it a little more localized?
Yeah, sounds like you have the right attitude. I can't imagine that stuff happening at Saladita, maybe it has but it's not the Saladita I've ever experienced. As for The Ranch, it's usually empty. There are no real "locals" there as there are no homes or building there, just empty beach. Everyone drives in from Saladita or Troncones. But you will often find it with no one else around (at least when I've been in the area). The wave is more high performance than Saladita for sure so you may be wanting your 7'0" for this spot.
I bet with an adventurous spirit, some Google Earth time and a morning on your SUP you could even find some spots in between the Ranch and Saladita with NO ONE in sight! I know Corky knows a few, not sure if he'll share the secret though :)
