Well it was up at 5.30 for the ritual paddle out at main beach with all the local crew. Santa hats was the order of the day and there was plenty out there, on longboards, shorties and SUPs.

The guy in the red suit delivered some lovely but wonky little 2- 3 ft peelers anything up to 350 rides on the right one.

I got my pressie when a glassy clean one walled up, I pointed Mr Chompy down the line and it went all the way to the beach wooo hooo.

Later in the day about 1pm the wind swung off shore with perfect A framing up to 6ft face peelers with only 3-4 people out

I was stunned to see all these people sitting on the sand watching wave after perfect wave roll in most un ridden.

We watched Adam from the carpark get 2 absolute screamers in near perfect conditions.

Kristi blew it up with a rediculous for grove 400+ meter ride complete with one smokin goatie style bucket off the top, she was so stoked she didnt go back out, she just sat on the beach with a cheshire cat grin.

Then like a light switch the wind went onshore and everything went to mush.

Thank you Santa your rock!

Phill

That's great Phill.. We were at Flinders (Big Left) at 6am and there was only Brendan, Cam and myself out and it was well overhead on the big sets and glassing off and then went off shore and died.. After a while another guy on a sup came out to join us and after about an hour the wind swung SW and it started to chop up slightly.. Soon after about half a dozer prone surfers came out and we decided to call it a day.. What a great Christmas morning..

How do you guys do it? Christmas day surfs are a thing of the distant past for me. Was woken at five, spent five until eight putting together a basketball ring and backboard set, finding batteries for the new Wii controllers, earning my masters degree in electronics by hooking up the afore mentioned Wii and then champagne brekky with the in laws. After that it was two hours in front of the barbie roasting enough spuds to end the Irish potato famine for family lunch. Lunch consisted of eating my body weight in turkey and ham and drinking a gallon or two of frosty spondooglers. At about four in the afternoon we adjourn to the local lawn bowls club (brother in law is greenkeeper) and proceed to slam down a few ends. At some stage I do recall seeing that the wind was offshore but by then I was so hammered I was chucking bowls down on the wrong bias and cleaning up the old dears on the next three rinks!!! Ah Christmas. Thank God it comes but once a year and good luck to you all.
Cheers
