Monday is looking good for a Downwind paddle I finish work 12:30pm so I’ll get to Snapper rocks around 1:30pm & paddle to Sea World inside the Seaway = 30km should be good a straight run the whole way with an incoming tide. Should only take 2 ½ - 3 hours I recon in these conditions. Good training for the Salt Water Festival.

with those winds surely you phil could go sub 2.5 hours
(thats only 5min k's)

if you do, I'd have my money on you for the Salt Race and the Honolua Race

...and maybe Moloka'i eh

R u sayin u can do 4min20sec k's as an average pace over say a 10km paddle

..or is that the max u did at one point, say on a runner

...cause if your doing that sort of pace, and can maintain it for a distance, well you'd be 5min behind Danny Ching in the other weekend's OC1 Molokai Race.

hmmm interesting

Good to see that ego still outa control Downwinder.

'How good am I, just ask me and I'll tell ya'.

Don't forget to wear your Power Balance band.

Look forward to hearing how you blitzed the downwinder - I'm sure you'll tell us, actually, you'll probably even video it huh - be sure to show us your chest again.

Dale, Andy, Lacey and I just got back from a Currumbin SLSC to Southport SLSC run. We went up to Snapper but the wind angle looked all wrong. There were some nice easy runs to be had up until Broadbeach. Things got a little more unsettled from here.

I'd be interested to hear how others fared today out there.

One of the best dw runs I have done. The last bit was ****ty from snapper to currumbin but the first half was all time.

finally got to do a few k's on andy's naish glide 14'. i had been on my go-cart dc fw14' which was untouchable to Burleigh, but then it was harder to keep balance and paddle hard as the wind and swell picked up(i'm going to put in the futures 13" fin for mild dwer's, it will be just that bit more stable). anyway, i was rapt at how good the naish went- stable, one position and gets runners a whole lot better than i would have thought. really impressed by the way it went, a good board for the art of dw ing on imho. also have to thank the roar crew for allowing me to train with them in the mornings- i really noticed the difference today
cheers

G'day Teatrea
if you want a great paddle for downwind paddling you can't go past the Quickblade Elite Racer this blade is the Ferrari of all blades (they are expensive) if you want one at the right price give me a call

Are these the ones with the manufacturing fault? ESS Boardstore ran a demo not long ago with some QB paddles and all of them broke in the same spot across the blade face on the day! I was waiting for some feedback on this forum but it seems to be swept under the carpet. Has anyone else experienced this and be covered by the warranty. I am keen for one but like you say they are expensive and don't want the hassle if it does break and having to chase a replacement under warranty
