I had an awesome experience this morning with a short boarder in his 50's giving an example that we can all get along in the water if we respect each other.

Out at Talle I'd been surfing pretty average, extremely small waves for about 40mins with the next person in the water about 100 meters away. Looking up onto the rocks I noticed a long grey haired guy climbing down with his short board heading my way. Now I could have got the ****s, carried on like I owned the place and that there weren't enough waves to share with another rider due to the conditions, but instead the discussions that we have had over the last week on this site came to mind, so I thought I would have a little experiment.

As the guy paddle straight out over to me we said g'day and I explained how the waves are a bit of fun but definately small, he didn't seem to fussed. Towards the end of this brief chat about the days conditions I saw a set (which by the way were few and far between) coming that clearly the short boarder couldn't, so I said " hey mate there is a set coming your way it's yours" I could have caught the wave and the guy new I was in the right spot, but the best thing was seeing the look on the guy's face when I said those words, so he turned paddle and as soon as he stood up he rode the wave as far as he could and 'hooted' all the way. What made the experience even more special was when he came back he could said "thanks for the wave, I made sure I rode it as far as I could and enjoyed it!". We chatted some more for another 30mins sharing waves and chatting about the local area until I decided to go in.

I guess the moral to this story is that we can all have a geat time out in the water no matter what size the surf, but this depends on our attitude and how we respect others in the line up.

Cheers and enjoy the long weekend

Thanks Adapt
It would nice if all who entered the water, did so with the same attitude you displayed.
As they say, it is best to give, as you may receive far better in return.

There was a recent post from ** from PSH about his etiquette in the water. I believe our crowd No.s on the Goldy are a real issue, but a humble and happy attitude goes a long way.

Thanks again

you did the right thing by telling him there was a set coming...

but you should have waited till he was just about to his feet, dropped in on him, faded him into the white wash, then rode the wave all the way in hooting all the way with your paddle held aloft in your hands, or better yet twirling it....

then paddled back out and sat to the inside of him....

old dude long grey hair, sounds like a friggen hippie to me

Well he cruelled my last two posts that Laurie then deleted and I have now been castigated off the forum as it's alleged that I was **** stirring ! I got angry with him and posted it.

Anyhow, nice story of your experience today bro, would love to see more of it and that is how it should be as was my message in the deleted post for those that missed it.

Yeah I agree with the numbers in the water on the Goldie. Makes it hard for some crew to leave their agro and chaos on the beach. I find the crowds a challenge at times especially when you've grown up on the Tweed coast surfing beachies by yourself, so I find for some reason not that many crew like surfing around Talle and it feel like a bit of paradise in the middle of the city.

it would be nice to ask the doctor to perhaps sit outside in the waiting room as the content he supplies is best left outside & is certainly of little to no benefit .. perhaps the administrator may take a look at the doctors practice & review it ! Pete
SUP & what it offers is awesome , embrace it & share it !!!

Can I just say. This morning at the alley I shared some of the fun waves all of us on 12'6 race sups, the 4 Of us had a blast on the wide bank! May I add that the wide bank at the alley at the moment is a perfect bop 12'6 wave. Even yesterday morning the 2 training groups on this wave, I'd say there were 25 12'6 sups, all having a blast sharing every wave together. No other surfers around on the wide bank all were near the rock. Thanks to teatree for sharing some wicked fun waves with me this morning!!! I'm still buzzing!! Eating some lunch then heading out for more this arvo. Great vibe from everyone!! Xxxxx Angie
