Has anybody surfed both of these boards? I am looking for feedback comparing the two in the surf. I'm 105kg and 5"10" surfing mushy 1-3 foot beach breaks mainly.

Thanks

G'day Hedley I've ridden both of these boards and this is my opinion on each, I am 6'1 and around the 75kg mark and found both board to be quite responsive (even for someone my weight). The main difference between each board is the rail line, the 10'6 SAS has a little more "straightness" through the middle of the board making it a better "paddler" in a straight line than the Carrier. However the Carrier has a lot more "roundness" in its rail line allowing it to "surf" better on the waves face buy allowing it to go rail to rail with ease. So the big question is- do you want a board to just surf (go the Carrier) or do you want a board that surfs but will also paddle so moderate distances (go the SAS)?

Hope this helps

Hey Supfool,

Thanks for the feedback, I guess I just need to demo the boards. I already surf the Starboard drive but want something more surf orientated but still with heaps of stability. Ideally in a perfect world two boards would be the way to go. But alas the minister for finances says no!!

G'day,
I've surfed both boards a fair bit. I've got a Carrier and it surfs well for a board that wide. I used both boards in 2 ft waves last weekend and I reckon theres not much difference except the carrier is a fair bit more relaxing while waiting for waves and the shorter size makes it a bit more manuverable. The SAS probably catches waves a bit easier and you can possibly hold a tighter line when trimming across the face? I reckon you can't go wrong with either, but if your just doing it for fun when surfs tiny and you don't want to ride a short board, the the carrier is the go. I'm close to 90kg
