Hi....First time commenter long time watcher…….

How great was it to see Simon Anderson at the ROAR expo on the weekend, had a chance to have a lengthy chin wag with the big fella about his SUP shapes and future designs and then watched him go out for a paddle himself. Great to see that he is actually interested in Stand Up and not just “cashing in” like a lot of other high profile surfboard shapers. Stoked to see Luke Short (LSD) there also, maybe we might be seeing Julian Wilson “punting” on a LSD SUP board soon?

Word out to Jacko and also the boys from Surfing Queensland, can’t wait for next year!

I wonder how many times over the weekend he had to tell the 'Invention of the Thruster' story?

No disrespect at all. Both Luke and Simon are good friends of mine.

I guess being the 30th anniversary of the thruster next year he is going to have to get used to telling it a lot more.

When I say disprespect, I mean no disrespect. I have been half way through a schooner and a steak with him and someone will come up introduce himself and say 'i've always wanted to ask, why did you think of that'.

He doesn't mind at all, he's one of the mellowest guys I have ever met. It's par for the course with Simon. If you see him, feel free to ask.

I like the rule that if you meet Simon for the first time you have to give him $1 for every thruster you ever owned. Is only right, since he never patented the design and shared it with the world instead.

He actually used to have a bunch of US dollar bills that had been sent to him over the years pinned on a cork board in the factory since that article in Surfer. When I say a bunch I mean about 5...... That was all that arrived.

They are honouring him at this years sacred craft in California, for the 30 year anniversary boardroomshow.com/

He deserves the praise, I still have the best board I have ever owned in my Garage that I watched him hand shape for me. A great experience and a true magic board.

I don't know if a $1 would cut it anymore but I am sure a beer would.
