At 100kg, am I too big for a 12'6" board? Flatwater and bay/ocean, no surfing.

I ask because I am thinking about getting a second board for use by family, friends and myself.

Alternatively, my smallest family member is 5'7"/75kg so is he too small for a 14'?

I realise demoiing is ideal but currently not practical for us to do so.

Cheers

Too big at 100 kg.. You must be kidding..

Maybe too heavy for some 12'6" boards (like the 24" wide LE) but not for one like mine.

My 12'6" Glide would float an elephant ..

I'm 95kgs and I barly sink it half an inch into the water and the big boxy rails seem about 8" thick and it's about 30" wide.

No problem at all with your young bloke paddling a 14..

A board like the 14' Glide would be the best choice imo or if you find it a little tippy you should demo a 14' NSP.

What DJ said...I get on very well with the 12'6 x 30 Glide, I'm 125kgs.

Your lad could also look at the 14' Fanatic Falcon or Starby All Star, he could probably go down to 25" but if you went the 27" you'd be OK on it too (providing your balance isn't totally crap).
