Hi all,
I have a friend who is keen to get a SUP for her and her young blokes. Flat water use only. She has been looking at soft board package deals.
Not knowing anything about these types of boards I was after some advice on pro's and con's.
She can get a board, cover and paddle for around the $850 mark.
She said they are lighter so easier for her to put on car by herself and would also be taken by boat for Pittwater outings so was worried about dinging a normal construction SUP.
Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers.

The new Coreban ones look pretty nice. Good boards for kids no bumps and bruises. On some of the early models you needed to be very careful of the bottoms they do ding and mark easliy , weight wise I don't know if they are lighter. You also might consider an inflatable Sup.

I have used the G-Board and they paddle really nicely and are great fun boards - for a softy. I wouldn't say that they are any lighter though because they are one of the better brands that are really made to last and stand up to surf school punishment. I would think that any good quality soft board would actually be heavier in comparison to a standard sup and if they were lighter I would seriously be questioning their lifespan. As Piros said, an inflatable would also be a consideration - the c4 inflatables are sooooooo much fun and depending on which model you get they also perform pretty well in the surf as well.
