Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to announce that with the support of Starboard and WAKSA I will be stand up paddling over 70 kilometers solo to raise funds and awareness for the Royal Flying Doctor.

The paddle will be taking place in late September from Yardie Creek to the Mildura Wreck in Exmouth and I am hoping to raise funds through sponsorship from family, friends, fellow suppers, businesses and the broader community.

I am currently in the process of finalising my planning and will provide a detailed update on the paddle itself and how people can donate to this very worthy not for profit charity shortly.

Your support will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind Regards,

Theresa McKirdy

Hi all,

The RFDS will be updating me on the best avenue for people to donate. I do believe there are various ways but importantly people must reference my name in order for the amount raised to be calculated.

No, I do not anticipate paddling the distance in one day as weather and tidal conditions will play a large role in how far I can travel. Rather, I will be completing sections and camping out anlong the way.

Terribly excited!

I will have an update on logistics very soon.

Rez,
Are you based in Perth or up north and are you going to be doing much training for the big paddle?

Hi Akhawk,

I am based in Perth.

I am hoping to get as much paddle time on the water over the next 8 weeks to train for the paddle. Hopefully there are some breaks in this rain!

Off the water I am also working on my fitness with a personal trainer. She is helping me to strengthen specific muscles, improve my endurance and cardio-vascular fitness.

I have some hard work ahead! Thats for sure.

good luck

look out for the super sweet sup spot just north of the light house - 2m swell - mid tide with a glass off and there is magic to be found there - had it to myself in may for 2 hours . .

watch out for rocks if the tide drains though..

Well done Rez. You will smash it in.
It took you 3.5hrs to paddle 20kms from Rotto to Scarbs.
So you should be able to do Yards to Exmouth in 12hrs
Good luck and keep us all updated

Reflex- I have been thinking about surfing that very spot on my sup for some time now. So so joyous.

Greenie- Rotto to Scarbs took a bit longer than that!!! I thought my arms wouldn't work again! At least I am training for this one. He he he. Besides I want to be able to enjoy the amazing scenery and wildlife along that coast!

Let me know if you are paddling after work, can do some downwinders, did city beach to trigg the other day. Just got in on dark spent too much time catching waves.

If you are after some moral support and company on your training paddles let us all know. I would be keen and I'm sure others would also be keen to join in for a distance paddle somewhere and sometime.

Ive done Trigg to Hillarys a few times and is a good paddle with a few wave spots to stop in on the way.
Count me in if anyone is keen.
Maybe Rez, Hilly, Hawkie, Reflex and anyone else who is keen we could organise a few small paddles to start with and then do some Scarbs to Mullaz?
When you know your going Rez post it up and Im sure you will get a few crew out there with you.
Give me a few days notice
