a while ago i asked for help in regards to the ins and outs of using the Soloshot Unit. Thanks to those who helped. This was my first test run so thought id post it up.. Overall pretty impressed with the unit. Takes a while to get used to set up and its important to get the set up ( centering especially ) correct.

Nice one! Do I remember correctly that you found an older one for sale, or is that the latest model? It certainly gives a better view than the nose mounted Go Pro.

Supmaori, what a great bit of kit. I missed your previous q's re the unit and didn't know it existed. Thanks for posting and your first go worked out pretty good. Now I have another toy to save for. Do you reckon I'd work through a car windscreen as I wouldn't be game to leave it outside at some places I surf? Thanks for posting. Cheers.

Hey guys..cheers for the feedback. This is the original soloshot not the soloshot 2 which is out now. To be honest i wouldnt use most of the features that the Soloshot 2 has...and you need to purcahse the camera remote attachmnet in order to be able to access zoom and tilt from out in the line up..which is another expense.

The guy i purchased it from did have some success through the car window screen but quality wasnt as good as you can imagine. I invested in a cheap security cable for the tripod and cam recorder to beef up the security.

You mentioned cam recorder. What camera are you using? I have noticed that they have a weight limit on the camera that can be used, as I use a Canon 5D with long lens to film with. I wonder if it would be too heavy?
Cheers

Hey mate
i have the soloshot tripod which seems pretty sturdy..you can increase the wide angle on the legs too , to make it more stable. I use the SONY HD JP200...good little video camera..small light and allows projection onto wall without having to use anything else. No sure of weight limit but have read of some issues with longs heavy lens .
cheers

You told me you had trouble getting it centred on your first run, centreing looks good man...I need to tighten the bearings or something in mine, its like an old 70's falcon with a loose steering wheel these days haha...but anyway, good to see ya got it sorted

Yeah took awhile to get confident with set up..I practiced in street and park..and kinda applied that to my break...what does vary is distance away the tripod is depending on tide and whether I can centre with camera pointing directly at line up or whether I have to do it on an angle..( if that makes sense)
