In case you cant tell, Iv'e got a severe case of new shooter stoke. Since taking delivery week before last I reckon I've been wet just about every day. Last weekend gone was a classic case in point. A grovel at home, one at Grove and two Roadies. Nothing special, quite ordinary in fact, but so much fun! Yesterday I arrived home from work at about the same time as the sea breeze so grabbed the 8.8 and had a flat water paddle on Swan Bay. Crystal clear water, heaps of fish and birds, sun on my back on the way up to the yacht club and sun in my face on the way back. Sweeeet! Stoked on the way the short board paddles. Gazumped by the cool change this arvo so catching up on some family time.
The other classic was that since my first post on Friday I've run into about a dozen Breezers. To many to mention individually but all super stoked, friendly and happy for a yack. Big thanks to Phil for the photos of the Grove session. Dont have many shots of myself doing standup so it was especially neat to score a few on a day when I felt I was just starting to get the new beast dialled in.
Anyway. Stole the moby off the Missus and took a few shots of the new shooter finned and skinned.
As you can see I made a bit of a pigs ear of the creatures grip. Did'nt want to run grip too far down the rail so cut a fair chunk out of the middle. End result was I ended up standing right on top of the ridges. Bloody uncomfortable and unstable. Had to cut out the ridges after my first surf and patch up as best I could.
Acouple of surf shots to finish off with, first one on my first go out courtesy of Wesso and a reprint of a couple of Phils. Thanks again!
