2017 looks a bit better IMO and just looks smoother in the water, both good boards, both suck to kick turn but both will win a race if the motor on top is good enough.

I think the 2017 was a little lighter from memory.

Starboard 2017 Sprint is a great board. I have owned each model of the sprint since 2015 and the great thing about Starboard is their R&D means each year the board has to outperform the previous model. The 2017 has a slightly wider tail and updated nose shape. It is significantly faster and more stable than the 2016.

I tried the 2018 Sprint yesterday and can say they have made huge changes to the Sprint - more volume in the nose, which translates to better stability at the catch; wider tail and updated concave shape on the underside, which has improved water release and made it possible to kick turn...first time a Sprint can effectively kick turn! One of the local Elite paddlers here - Will, uses the Sprint on the Ocean for DW marginal conditions, this Sprint is set up to handle your light DW, with drain holes and raised tail section to stand aft.

Again, they only put out updated models if they beat the previous years - so if the 2017 was unbeatable last year....2018 looks and feels like a total dominance!
