Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has actually seen one of these boards, or knew the dimension etc and any other feed back you may have?

Regards

Hey phill

the 7'2 Starboard is from the 08 range
not to sure how many 7'2s are in the country

the new 09 model is the Tiki 8'5 x 28''

Starboard 7'2

hi phil

i took a demo 7'2 for a spin from windsurfnsnow big thanks to sam for twisting my arm by saying you dont know till ya have a go

at the time i was thinking of getting one for my 4 yr old grommet and was wondering how it went for someone bigger

sam said he had taken it for a couple of spins in small waves and had a ball on it

so off i went and took it for a crack

at 95kg paddling out though the line up was very hard and swinging around to catch waves in a stiff offshore was even harder at first but after falling off 1000 times laughing and getting laughed at by everyone on the peak it soon became easier

on the wave the board was very very loose rail to rail letting you jam in 3 to 4 turns in the same space as i could pull 1 on my 9'6 board

with the kicked up nose you could make some hairy late drops

great novelty board to get for the kids that would be great to grab and take out for a few little waves under 2 foot

the new 8'5 looks great but the stingers on any board just rubs my fleas the wrong way but i havent had a crack at it yet so i cant really comment

hope sam can take one for a demo to give us the wrap on this new little weapon

or maybe casso could work on sam to let him do a review on them

or maybe i'll be able to work on sam to take one for a crack when i'm in sydney maybe in june

Dogman,

Thank heaps for your opinion, since I have been putting up some footage of my kids riding sup I have been getting quite a few emails asking me what boards they ride etc.

The hard thing is 30 -35kg weight does not turn 9ft boards designed for 70+ kg easily and justifing $1000+ for kids SUBs esecially if you have 2,3 or 4 is a big ask.

I am just trying to point the guys emailing me in the right direction and the only small boards I could see on the net were the 7'2 starboards and I knew nothing about them.

I have heard awesome reports about the Shurfshapes boards and particularly the ones Annie and Brooko are riding, and have spoken to Rod Hocker at length and passed his number on to 3 people already and i believe he has the kids board issue sorted.

My girls 10 and 13 are riding Dave Boyd Imperial designs with more bottom shape, spoons and curves than Angelina Jole laughs. Nesha 10yrs can spin the 8'2 on a dime and gets over white wash that should trash her really. Her confidence has grown since she can now see over the top of the wave, I guess its less threatening to a small child.

I am told I need one more SUP for Niki 8 so I need to donate the other kidney to science to fund it!

Nothing better than seeing those girls out there with cheshire cat grins sharing in the passion though!

If your ever down this way Dogman drop in and say HI cold beer and BBQ waiting!

hi phil

you might have to keep those beers on ice for a while

but you never know

rods got some great ideas and his shapes are looking great

nothing better than spending the day with the family doing something you love while sharing the stoke of SUP

Hey Dogman,

I am hoping to see one of Rods boards tomorrow, I have spoken to him on the phone and I agree he really knows where its at.

I'm just working on the funding issues we all go through and then things will flow.
