Hi all,
Apart from the static dimension differences of the 2015 and 2012-2014 8' 10" Widepoints (which have been tweaked) what is the real world on the water difference on a wave, paddling for a wave etc. I loved my 2012 8' 10" but I damaged it and want to update. I enjoy its ability to paddle well and trim on the face of the wave then turn, cutback etc. Where would I be with the new model. I have had some feedback from dealers but would like the Breezers opinions please. Thanks.

I bought one 2 days ago. I traded a Sunover Balance 10'6 x 34 I'd bought to tandem surf with my wife, but she prefers snorkling...The 8'10 is really stable & paddles well. The first wave I went for I caught easily & didn't feel like I needed to get used to the board. The board turns easily & loves a floater. Only caught up to chest high waves so far, so can't say too much & I havn't tried older versions, but I imagine it has a little more glide due to the straightening through the middle. Possibly turns a little better due to rail reduction. Dunno but I'm stoked with mine

I've got the 2011 version of the 8-10 Widepoint, which I like very much. I tried out the 2013 version and didn't like it as much, it seems as though they took out some of the rocker to make it more wind surfing friendly (the silver versions being WS/SUP combos), that made it faster, but stiffer on the waves.
So between those years, IMO, they made a great SUP board into only a fair combo board, so I'm sticking with my '11 as long as it can last.

I know those aren't the years you were asking about, but that's all I know for sure, I've never tried any of the newer ones,,,,,,, for what it's worth.

I have just sold my 8'10 wide point (2012) carbon, best board I have ever had. I have updated to the 8'2 wide point carbon 2013 model, absolutely love it. I only went to the smaller board to push myself a bit more. These boards are great for bigger chaps to get some decent surf options with the SUPS. The 32" wide boards give great stability, even in chop. One thing I have noticed personally is the forward stability from going 8" shorter, totally screwed with my Shwei for a few weeks, but all good now.

Great. Thanks to everyone who replied. I really appreciate your input. I've bought the new one since. Thanks to Sam and the guys at Wind Surf And Snow who really looked after me, I was able to get the carbon and so far, I am very impressed. Had tiny tiny waves this morning and any concerns with paddle on and glide are no longer a concern. It went great. I will post a full review after I have spent a little time on it in decent size surf.

I got the 8'10 Blue Electric (non carbon) which comes with plastic side fins & a pretty slim centre. I swapped them out for some Shapers stealth mediums & a Shapers 6" performance centre. Had a lot more drive, I like lots of area in my fin sets...3rd surf & loving it

I have the 2013 8'10 Wide Point and absolutely love the board. I keep thinking I will go and upgrade the board but each time I take her out she wins me back. Apparently the new shape is pretty different as far as rail design and the tail is different from my model as well.

I would love to try the Airborn 8'8 as an alternate to the Widey but geez its a hard one to make a call on.
