This year will be the 31sty year of this great event.. The Corona Classic.. It's on November 24-27 (Thu-Sun).. Now is the time to book accommodation etc.

For those who don't know.. It's not a competition with heats running or any pressure.. It's four days of fun.. good food.. and Australia's biggest SUP trade show.

Be there.. ... Here's some info from the Merimbula official site.. www.merimbulasailboardclub.com.au/

Stan Squire will be doing the artwork this year for the posters and t shirts.. stansquire.bigcartel.com/

Now in its 31st year, the Merimbula Classic has become an annual 4day fun event that kitesurfers, wave surfers and, in recent years, SUP surfers just do not want to miss.

Held at Merimbula, on the far south coast of NSW, this contest is the longest running event of its type, in the world. It is a chance for contestants from all over Australia, and from far away shores, to come together for action, food, fun, friendship and lots of good times, both on and off the water. Many a great yarn has been spun over the odd beer or three.

Manufacturers and retailers set up their stalls on Ford Oval, adjacent to the beach to show off their wares, and the wind and wave warriors can strut their stuff in the pristine waves breaking just off shore. The early morning sup brigade can usually be found watching the sun rise as they sweep across the glistening waters, before the wind comes up. Last year's Beach to Bar sup race sprung up a surprise when entrants had to do a lap or two of the carpark on the street sup boards that proved to be such a hit.

There is something for everyone. The BBQ brigade serve up gourmet fare for breakfast, lunch and after sail sustenance, and everyone can relax over refreshments around the club house at the end of the day. Entertainment at night will encompass kiting/sailing films, and music to rock your socks off as well as a bumper prize giving fun fare at the presentation on Sunday evening.

More details will be available soon... but if you would like to become involved as a sponsor ( we just LOVE all our sponsors) and/or a contestant, or feel you have someting to contribute as a volunteer, then John Smythe, contest director is just itching to hear from you. Contact John by email or phone 0407 260 015 or (02)64956617

sounds good - wish we could make it

One little point The Robe easter classic has been running for 33 years so that makes it the second longest running event.

Can I get in early and ask if any of the Melbourne crew heading down might have room for ME. The family will be meeting me there but I want to go early in the week.
I don't take up much space. Just two boards, stubie cooler, boardies and a t-shirt.
Cheers

We will likely get there on Wednesday and leave the following Monday... depends on swell, wind and other distractions along the way.

I'm going to make it a week, if there is swell I'll surf, no swell I'll just cruise about on my 14er. I will still need a lift.

My family and I are coming down Wednesday for just one night so will have Wed arvo on the water and Thurs so hopefully get some water time with 'breezer's and see some of the trade show.

We have to go home Thurs arvo though as it's my daughters 4th Birthday on the Friday and with that and her party on Saturday it snookered me BUT if the weather's good, I might head back really early Sunday for the day.
