I have a new shaft for a Shaka pu, I need to stick it into the old blade , cut to length and stick the T handle on.

Is 5 minute araldite the go for blade and T handle ????

Any tips for cutting the shaft straight??

DJ's your man for advice on setting up Kialoa paddles, he did a how-to piece on here a couple of years ago...I think it was a photo series rather than a vid (buggered if I can find it though , you might have better luck searching )

Edit: Here it is

Do you have the old shaft out of the blade?

I use masking tape around the cut point as a guide to cutting it straight.

and yes.. 5 min Aroldite is fine .. but they do recommend full strength.

Let it dry 24 hrs and some black nit to tape to tidy up. Simple and effective. I place the blade on concrete while glue is pliable. That way you know the t and blade are lined up

Best way to absolutely guarantee you cut straight is to get a mitre box from Bunnings. They cost around $20.

use some nitto tape around the shaft to stop burrs and your cut will be really neat.

then I just use 5 minute Araldyte and nitto tape over it to make it look neat.

no it is a serious pain in the behind. you cut the shaft 10 cm up crush it with pliers then try to get the shaft out of the blade. Dremel out the glue. Cut new shaft at the same angle insert with full strength epoxy getting no leaks. Good luck. Courts and Marty had all sorts of dramas doing my 2 warranties. They were not happy clams.
