6am this morning I check the surf, looks kind of crowded, smaller and still pretty sweepy at the Alley. The Beachies are closing out, way too straight.
I don't have a surf SUP at the moment due to selling mine a bit quicker than I liked and my new DMS custom being delayed.
I am kind of bumming in the carpark when Scotty from Greenline drives in. We ask what each other is riding and I know he always has a couple of boards in the car.
He offers me a ride on the C4 Raimana World 9'8. I am stoked, then it occurs to me, no paddle. He says: that's OK I have a paddle as well. Scotty, what a legend!
I haven't surfed on any SUP except a 14' race board for a month or two.
I have always been a fan of Dave Parmenter so I am stoked to get to try this board in the first place. Paddling out this board feels like I have been on it for years, pop over the first whitewater happy as Larry.
Get to where I was planning to surf, spin and take a wave from the wall past the palms buildings at Mach 3. The board while completely unlike anything I have ridden before feels on the first wave like I have been riding it for years. This thing feels amazing!
In the hour and a 1/2 or 2 i must have had about 30 waves, each one the board feels better than the last. Free off the bottom, loose off the top, handles well off the wash.
It's the biggest board I have ridden for a few years and despite its length is fast, drivey, loose, stable, comfortable to paddle. If you are looking at a board in the mid 9's you can't go past one of these. Give Scotty a call and demo this board, it goes off!
Thanks again Scotty, I have been smiling all day. I remembered why I got into SUP now this is make the wait for my new board even longer as I am hanging to get back out there......

CMC, If you need a board I have a 9'0 Naish Hokua you can borrow till it's sold.
I picked up a new board last week, so it's just sitting in the shed.

Thanks CMC. I have a theory that most boards feel unreal in good surf!
