Hi all in Currumbin area and Goldie,

Please keep an eye out of a stolen Naish 11'6 wood with black o&e grip on it.

If you have any info there will be a reward. Pretty much the only naish 11'6 around with o&e grip on it. Also with it they have stolen a carbon oxbow paddle with it aswell.

This sup was one of our Hire fleet and was taken midday from the beach across from the shop. It was out for hire at the time with some 16year girls and they turned away for a minute and it was gone! The poor girls mum is very upset and is a single mum, so we are hoping that the board shows up in the next few days.

Please contact shop on 55257003 or paul 0418722928, angie 0437533324

Many thanks Angie

That sux !

Are you insured for that sort of thing ?

Or would the mum have to pay for a newbie ?

If so, surely the good readers here could chip in toward a new one which someone could get at wholesale price and save a single mum from coughing up large ?

I for one would be happy to slip in a yellow or green note toward a good cause.

But.....why would you steal a board ? You'd never enjoy it, never get any stoke out of it and the karma train would hit hard at some point.....dickheads !

I guess they'd be non surfers and only try and flog it at the pub for their next hit anyways.

Yeah it suxs big time. We are working with the mum to come to a solution. We are going to give it a few days and see what turns up. Unfortunately when you hire a board you take responsibility for it and these things can happen. We have to say the mother was very willing to pay for it on her credit card and just do some extra hours to pay it off but we are hoping that it will turn up and it wont come to that.

The biggest bummer is there was 12 girls and all the other parents would not help the mum who organized it.

If it does turn out she has to pay she will be paying nothing close to what we pay for it.

Good new on this one. The board turned up, it was up a drain for 3 days and when it rained the other day it washed out. It has a fair bit of damage and still missing the paddle but the main thing is the board is back!!

Jacko

In times gone by and running surfing (not surf!) shops in Mermaid and Coolangatta we had a regular 'first name basis' dialogue with the local police who would undoubtedly find more boards behind a warehouse or in a field. We reunited at least 20 people with stolen boards.

Most people steal to sell, surfboards and SUP's even more so are not an easy conversion to money. They steal, try to sell and quickly realise that noone wants a stolen board. Then they dump.

Good advice is if your board gets stolen, speak to the police, local pawn brokers and surf shops. You'd be surprised how often you get them back, even if it takes a bit.

Stoked you found that one Jacko.
