Spent some time yesterday on a helicopter above Sydney Harbour which gave me a chance to scope the course for next week's race from The Bridge to Manly.

Such a rare chance to SUP Sydney Harbour and I'm really looking forward to the challenge of paddling the 11km....looks amazing from the air.

I'm sure a few of you have entered or are thinking of entering late, any idea of SUP numbers this year ? I think there was maybe 8 or 10 last year with that aweful northerly ?

Shout out if your one of those giving it a crack.....also, any more news on the safety vest situation on the day ?

Here's a mashed video I put together from yesterday. If you've not done it, put it on your bucket list, Sydney sucks looking at it in traffic but from the air it makes you realise how beautiful it is again !

Still waiting to here from AA regarding the PFDs ,hopefully well know this week ,when I spoke to him at the river race he didn't think we will need them.

Worked out your tactics yet ? from your helicopter ride?

Same, same. Welcome to stay in our spare room mate and travel up to the race and back with me.

My wife's meeting me at Manly for a ride back to my car at the start so I'm organized and ready to roll.

Boylos....as for tactics, the only one will be to finish. I'm not looking at it as a race, just want to enjoy it, get some photo's, some video and enjoy the chance to get on the harbor and actually challenge myself to finish it and not come last.

Mind you, finishing in front of you will be enjoyable. - smiles right back at ya bro. LOL.

Does it matter how slow you are?
Can I do it on my 9'3"? Or will I be dragging the chain??

Might be quicker to swim!
Seriously Krakka you would be struggling and there is a cut off time so everyone comes in safely.
We have a couple for longer boards you can hire for the day from Balmoral Paddle Surf -
-12' PSH Gun
-14' Glide
-14' Jav
-12'6 Lahui Kai

Unless you area very strong paddle I would recommend 11'6 + in length.
