What Hilly says is true, uv will degrade paint, even top quality PU in time.
Leaving the board in the sun is a good way of finding leaks!.....you may notice a drip or a hisssss......but the reverse may happen when using the board in cooler water after its been breathing out all day in the hot sun

If you have an epoxy board it won't like uv, one sure sign of epoxy is that it will yellow in a few days of strong sun, it can take years to become chalky & weak.
Some surfboard epoxys are uv stable...so they say..
Can you post a shot of the board?
PS...What I'd be doing if I wanted to look after my board in your situation is just throw a light coloured sheet over the board.
