I like the photos. What time in the evening were they taken? How is your search for a new board going? Whatever happens you should hang onto Perl, she's a classic.

It´s sunset. The time is a couple of minutes past 9. And yes, it's Pearl I'm riding.

I think i'm going for a Naish. But all -08 are sold out, so I'm waiting for -09 to arrive.

I'm not sure... 10"6 or 9"6...

Do you think it's a bad choise to go for the 9"'6 as a beginner? I'm not planning for long distans, and I want a board to grow into, not grow out....

How wide is the 9"6?

IMHO...If you're thinking about doing any flat water stuff at all don't even think about the 9'6"..BTW the 9'6" is about 29" wide I think.

The 10'6" would be a much better choice for someone your weight (I wouldn't recommend any smaller)...Are you able to demo them?

What characteristics makes this board not suited for flat water? Slow? unsteady?

Which board is better for paddling against strong wind? I have noticed that it is pretty hard to paddle straigt ahead the wind. I'm concerned that I will have trouble getting out to the line-up in 20-25 knots.

I have tried to paddle against 20 knots and I couldn't make any forward progress, in 25 I would have been blown away. The only direction you are going in this sort of wind is down wind.
