It was cool and no surf but we still had a turn out of 18 adults and nine children.

It started of with 5 of us paddling out in the wind at 7:30 in the desperate attempt to catch a wave. The bombie was a bout a foot off breaking though a rouge came through and just broke enough for Bill Ward to grab hold of it.

We discovered as mentioned in another post that any board can break in tiny shore dumps. A sad start to the day. Another for Peter Nitschke to fix.

At 9am when the Family Day started things were on the improve especially when Amanda from www.paddleshop.com.au showed up with Byron Bay Cookies for everyone. Greatly appreciated by all Amanda.

A Big Thank you to Peter Nitschke from www.caloundrawindandsurf.com.au and Jamie from GSI for bringing along the demo boards. There was a lot of discussion about all the demos. All the toys were great. I want them all.

So with out the surf we set about having some competitions. Again I would like to thank everyone for donating prizes for the day.

These included:
Peter Nitschke from www.caloundrawindandsurf.com.au
Mark from www.quiverkaddy.com
Amanda and Andy from www.paddleshop.com.au
Angelo from Anaconda Kawana
Jamie from Global Surf Industries (paddle to be raffled at the next event)
Scott from Kawana Betta Electrical and Furniture (prize to be given away at the next event)
Jono from Sunshine Coast Kitesurfing Co. Cotton Tree (prize to be given away at the next event)

Big smiles were on all faces.
Thanks to Louie and Deb from Maroochydore Stand Up Paddle School for doing the BBQ. Big effort as they just flew in yesterday.

It was good to meet the friendly visitors from the Goldie. I hope you enjoyed your day Bill, Bridgette an Leanne.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the next event.
Cheers
Swanie

Thanks Swanie and the crew for a great morning. Wow what a beautiful spot for paddling and I think it's the first time my missus has felt confident enough to paddle in open water - let alone enter two races !!! We both had a ball and will definately be back next month. Also to back up your comments - big thanx to Jamie from GSI for letting us loose on the new McTavish and Walden sups and to Peter for letting me loose on the new 9'6 Coreban.
And no swanie - I didn't bring the Coreban home !! (not yet anyway)

But I bet you wanted to. Both the Coreban and the McTavish are sweet boards. I want to try the other one Peter is getting in next month. Also keen as to try the 9'6" McTavish.

Thanks to Pete for letting me on the 12'6" DC now I want something like that or Tullies.

Thanks for coming and see you next month.

Hey Swanie, Thanks for your efforts in organising these get togethers, it's great to have so many boards there to try out, people to chat with, and a bit of fun paddling too. Many Thanks . Hope to make the next one. Jayne.

Was good to try the new Coreban and McTavish sups after all the hype about both brands in the past couple of months and the reps for the respective boards were both really helpful and professional and not at all pushy about either brand and they really fit into the overall relaxed and friendly vibe of the day. Cant wait for the combined club day next month and the huge array of toys we will be able to play with in the surf.
And the most outstanding moment of the day that rates a serious mention "FULLY SIC SAUSAGES GUYS". Worth the trip alone.

Bill.

We had a play with the 9'0. Very very stable for such a small board. And it did feel very small with such a pointy nose. Paddled quite well also and I think it suprised a few of the bigger guys as well with its float.. Reckon it would surf quite well. Can pm you with the nitty gritty if you wish.

Hi Lacey

It floated me well (93kg). I think it would be awesome in the surf but wasn't enough about to play on. I think the 9'6" would be the go for my weight and ability combo. Haven't tried the 9'6" yet but Jamie from GSI is going to try to have one at the expression day up Noosa way on the 1st of November.
Come up if you're in the area.
Cheers

thx's guy's, it is just a board that looks good and i guess i'll get a chance at one stage to try it.probably no a board for me, but for people in the 80 kg's plus bracket who want shortboard type sups, it looks a real performer. that's why i would like to have a try
