After feedback and an idea of who is coming to the next club day.

Please post a reply if you are coming to the next meet on Sunday the 13th of September.

At the last meet we had a talk about the importance of ensuring a family friendly day and venues were discussed. It was discussed that if it was a Northerly wind we would host the event at Happy Valley and if the wind was a Southerly we would host the event at Mooloolaba Spit. The family day was to start about 9am. (This time will become earlier in summer so the kids are not on the beach in the hottest part of the day)

We are still aiming at board demos, kids races, BBQ etc.

I would like feedback on the idea of holding the surf comp at 6:30am (like the Goldie crew are doing) and then the family day at 9am. This is a better time for waves especially as we approach Summer. When we are at Mooloolaba we could hold the surf comp at Carties or over on Buddina Beach (it is only a short paddle over the river and across the headland. If held here we would paddle back to Mooloolaba spit for the family day). At Happy Valley both would be at the same location.

Tell me what you think.

I will post the meet flyer on Sunday. It would be great to get some of the Noosa crew down and Goldie Crew up for the next event as well. Great social day.

Cheers

Hey swanie,

Sounds like the perfect format.

Just got to check if the distance race at Northcliffe is on the Sunday or Saturday of that weekend.

My wifes got a full size cardboard cut out of me she would use when the kids were young so I can still do multiple weekend events.

Regards

The Northcliffe Race is on the Saturday 12th Sept. I should have some details of this race soon and will post them as soon as I get the info.

On the Saturday (day before) before the comp / meet, I will post on this site which beach. This is done in the interest of getting the best we can get for the day.

I was thinking of a team comp for this one. Plus best wave, best wipe out, longest wave etc. Also will chase some prizes.

If anyone can assist with the prizes that would be great.

Hi Bill

Look forward to seeing you their and I hope the back is better.

Both will have the opportunity for some waves during the family day time. Happies in on the edge of flat and surf. Only a sand bar separates the two. Mooloolaba has ome good surf sometimes and has a protected flat corner, plus Carties is only about 150m paddle to decent surf.
I was with the family today at Happies and the surf was really small but clean. The rest of the coast was wasted with about 20knot + northerlies. Here is a few snap shots to show what it can be like..

A friend with her child having their first go at SUP

My 6 year old had to test out her new board in the same area

It was very small but fun
