February Club Day
Club Day: Sunday 13th of JFebruary
Meet up time: 8am Location: Maroochydore River Mouth. If there is a weather change I will let you know. Otherwise I will see you there.
We are going to have a fun team comp. This format means that even the most average surfer can win the day or be on the winning team.
Format
At 8am we will make the teams. The comp will be a team surf comp. Each team member will take turns to paddle out and during their time they can catch a maximum of three waves. When they have caught the wave that they want to have scored they raise their paddle and then paddle in. If they decide to go for their second or third wave then they forfeit the points of the previous wave. If they go for their 3rd wave then that is the one that counts even if it is a wipeout. Greed here can be your downfall here.
The points of your scoring wave will go towards both your teams score and your individual score. If we have a tie on individual scores then we will have a surf off.

If you are able to provide prizes please let me know and this will go out on the email prior to the comp day.
We will finish the day with a social surf and expression session. During this time we will have a social comp at trying to acheive certain manoeuvres.

The day was fun though a bit of a blow came up. In the comp we had 16 competitors and three stand out performers. Matt Roach won the comp with a 6.5. He was closely followed by Jack Reginato and Steve MacMackin who both scored 6's. Jack is only 14 and is a great up and coming surfer.
Thanks to everyone for coming along and a big thank you to Luke and Hayden from Ocean Addicts for providing the prizes, food and drink. Best wishes for the birth of your first child Luke which should happen before the next day.
The next club day is on Sunday 13 of March. Instead of a comp day we are going to make it an Expression Day and Social Surf in which we will share techniques on different manoeuvres.
Luke Potter will demonstrate how to do a 360'.
Luke King will demonstrate the floater .
Others will be the power turn, cutback etc etc.
After each demo everyone will have 30 minutes to try and do that manoeuvre on a wave. Big Social surf. Something fun for everyone.
If you are keen on learning some new techniques and have someone point you in the right direction please come along.
If you are able to assist with showing some techniques, we would welcome your efforts and help.
