If you've got a decent broadband connection Hulu.com is a great way to catch a movie or even a TV show you may have missed...limited commercials...or none...very cool. I watched North Shore the other night.

Lots of other great content...search surf, surfing, etc...good stuff.

We should all register to show interest, I did.
When I do stuff like that I use an alias and if that name gets too much spam I delete it from my ISP and start another one.

On your recommendation Stoneaxe I watched North Shore tonight and quite enjoyed it - cheesy as it is. I haven't seen it before. I like seeing real people acting - they are always so bad at it. As an actor Laird sure makes a good surfer! Hearing some of classic 80's Aussie disco from Gangajang and Psuedo Echo was also a bit of a blast from the past.

Do they still call tourists Haole and Barney over there?

That sucks....no streaming outside the US that is.

Cheesy but in a good way. It was nice to see that there are some things that Laird sucks at...

I've heard there are spots where haole is still used but I've never heard it. My size may have something to do with that but probably more the fact that I'm very respectful of the culture. Can't blame people for being pissed about seeing their islands treated like crap. I'm definitely a barney though and haven't heard that either...

In the movie, I liked how they gave us Haoles/Barneys a mini soul surfer apprenticeship, along with a Hawaian love angle and Turtle was a great 80s character.

If you've ever been to the Gold Coast/Queensland I think the native Hawaiians got a pretty good deal compared to what happened to our Aboriginals, in terms of trashing a place. I've always been impressed with the way Hawaii limited high rise development to only a minute percentage of the islands. Queensland and the Gold Coast in particular is a basket case when it comes to preserving the natural foreshore and limiting high rise to just one part of the coast. Which brings me to another classic early 80's movie - Basket Case, I'll have to get that one out again.

Well I'm certain the native americans that lived on the island of Manhattan would hardly recognize the place today....
