Yesterday I took two of the ICU nurses from my work for their first surf session..

It's always great to see people catch their first waves..

I'm sure most of their falls were from laughing so much rather than loosing their balance..

I had my new 10'6" Nalu.. Lynita had her 10' Mana.. and Zoe had her 9'5" Mana.. What a great day..

Took me until 4:30 minutes into the video to realise that you are responsible for spreading the boardies over wettie scourge.

That looks like so much fun - I need a lesson on reading the weather maps, tides etc so I can get waves like that.

Yes.. Amazing isn't it.. Just around the corner is where the Yarra enters the bay..

Actually my good friend Phil would kill me if I told too many people where that spot is..

Yes I agree.. I'm sure most people would look out from the beach and think "oh forget that.. It looks pathetic" ..

Thanks.. I'm not 100% sure what your question is but as far as Naish goes there are three main boards in the 10' range.. The Nalu, the Mana and the Hokua.

The Hokua is a performance board that has a short board feel with its pointy nose.. It's fast and likes to be surfed more from the tail.. It can also be a little tippy for a beginner..

The Mana is a fun and stable surfing board that's perfect for beginners.. You can stand pretty much anywhere on the board to make it work.. It can be a little slow but it's very forgiving and a rel fun board.

The Nalu is more of a performance long board style board.. Faster than the Mana.. Surfs well from the tail and is also a good nose rider.. They can be a bit tippy but the new shape 10'6".5 Nalu is slightly wider than the old 10'6" Nalu making it the best of both worlds.. Stable, fast, and has awesome surfing performance.

I also have a 10' Mana that I love and almost never nose dive it on take offs on a wave (because of the added rocker) but yesterday I nose dived my Nalu a couple of times because its not as forgiving as the Mana and has a nose rocker that's more suited to nose riding.. btw.. The nose diving is my fault.. not the board.. I just need to learn to surf better..

I reckon that if you get rid of those boardies over your wetsuit you will be able to surf better DJ.

Boardies over wettie's is here to stay.. .. For me anyway.

IMO.. It's like wearing lycra on mountain bikes.. Hard core performance sup surfing it's ok.. Same as hard core performance mt bike racing its ok.. But no one wears lycra now on a fun mt bike ride with their mates.. We wear baggie long leg shorts (with lycra shorts underneath).. I noticed recent pics of the top sup racers using black compression pants under their boardies.. How would it look if they just wore those tight pants without their boardies.. Not a pretty sight IMO unless you like those tight satin pants look from the saturday night fever disco days with that male camel toe look.. No biggie but not my cup-a-tea..

Besides.. It gives me a pocket to carry my camera..

Thanks DJ for your thoughts, i demoed a 9.5 hokua and found it out of my skill level to tippy and not very comfortable. than went back to the shop and looked at the other 2, at present i have a board similar to a mana in shape and size and started to feel the need for something with a bit more zip.Maybe i'll have to go somewhere in between. Thanks for the help.
