If you want to be one of the founding members of the Sydney Paddle Surfing Club -head to www.spsc.com.au right now and register your details via the online membership registration form.

This way we can get information to you about upcoming events and last minute changes in plans and you won't have to fuss around with paperwork on the morning of our first event ... which is:

Sunday 9 August 2009
at Long Reef Beach - near the lagoon entrance

Tell anybody who you think may be interested. Start spreading the word. The more the merrier.

Hope to see you there.

Hey,

The logo looks great, tried to click on the link to the new site there seems to be a problem.

On another point, have you ridden a Laguna Bay 9" ft and if so how does it compare to the 8"8 DC.

Try typing the address manually into your browser.

Haven't ridden a Laguna Bay - but would like to one day.

Lots of activity so far. Here are the pioneers of the club who got in early and now have very cool, low member numbers:

001 = Casso
002 = Casso's wife
003 = Goatman
004 = AA
005 = Homeally
006 = Boylos
007 = Sam (that suits!)
008 = Baby Oscar
009 = Casso's daughter
010 = Casso's son
011 = JB Mel
012 = Jack Mack

Get in quick and register your details now or you might end up being member number 1,257 (so uncool).

Hey Crash, yeah - it does that every now and then. I think there are is a limit as to how many consecutive users can be in there (cheap hosting).

I think you'll find, if you try it in a few minutes it will have fixed itself - some people may have bailed by then.

If that still doesn't work - open a new browser window and type in the address (www.spsc.com.au) manually.

Finally got on - looks good...

Couple of questions:

1. Does a year membership include anything other than competition entry? EG food/beer/t-shirt and most importantly insurance?

2. The Cronulla event is on the same weekend as a NSWWA event at Wanda, are you going to try to combine the 2 somehow as it's a shame that they clash...

I'll let my SUP buddies know about the club.
Cheers

Hey Ben, membership includes the six comps, two stickers, BBQ food and insurance. T-shirts will be extra. BYO beer.

Ooo, we may need to change the location of the Cronulla event then. How much space do you wind w*nkers take up? Could we hang at Elouera and be out of the way?

Boylos (SPSC Southern Co-ordinator) - what do you think?

We're up at the Greenhills carpark and usually have about a 100 metre competition zone (this is a complete guess but probably about right), it's also a pretty busy comp as it attracts the Sydney windsurfers so there we plenty outside of the comp zone. However, the comps don't normally get going until 11:30 so it may not be too much of a problem - I'll just try to do both comps, so the closer the better!

Have you all the waterways permits done as this may make it difficult to move it last minute.

As for what you get - insurance was the main one for me - is it year long or just for the comp days?

Cheers

I think we should change the event date Casso ,The reason for this is that Greenhills offers the best location parking ,setting up etc ,plus as it's on a Sunday all 4 surf clubs have nippers on and Elouera will be packed ,I'm at North Cronulla SLSC and if i don't get the kids there early enough it's a nightmare!
Also at Elouera there fixing the wall and there's alot of constrution work going on.
I would delay the event date ,until I get the official Surf Club events schedule for the yr,as all four clubs have surf carnivals on at differant times of the yr ......and thats a nightmare!

We'll kick off our comp at 7:30am and will have most of the surfing finished by the time you guys start/the wind picks up. The paddle race may still need to be run, but we can set the course to travel away from the windsurfing comp zone.

We may get a few of you cross-over guys going in our comp too. Put the word out for us. $15 for a single comp if they don't want to join up for the whole year.

The Lagunda Bay boards go off hahahaha log onto noosasurfworks.com.au and have a look and then email Tully and ask him any ?'s u want (he's the shaper).

P.S. Congrats on the new club Casso it must have been a fair bit of work, there will be few guys keen to drive up from the south coast. I finish work at 4 am the day you have the first event on so i may redbull up and make the drive north. Getting cracking waves down here today.

No waterways permit required for us - but we need to share the beach/surf with whoever else wants to use it. We don't have the right to clear the water.

Insurance is just while you are competing in an SPSC event (or a Surfing NSW sanctioned event).

It always takes a committed and passionate person to drive these things and Sydney and surrounds is lucky to have CASSO, GOATMAN and the team driving it.
Onya boys and girls!

AA

PS: The GOATMAN rips - saw him dropping into some sucky bomb sets at DY point today and slashing hard of the top.
