Hi All,
Requesting some advice from Sydney Paddlers mainly for flat water or downwinder conditions.
Would like to know some favorite destinations for paddling, and the best conditions for paddle these locations.
Fairly new to SUP and keen to explore our magnificent water ways around Sydney or make a weekend of it and cruise around
Happy to paddle in the ocean or river/ lake locations
Thanks

Narrabeen Lakes is good for flatwater. If you need to hire boards of have lessons you should look up Jamieson Park Paddle. Either way, going from there is a pretty good option (free parking in other words...) There's plenty of flatwater and downwinding to be had on Pittwater as well, it all depends on which way the wind's blowing - try out of Clareville and Bayview for starters...

Lots of SUP in Manly on the harbourside as well, just avoid anything remotely Southerly in wind direction...

Mate in the east there's heaps...
Botany Bay you've got downwinders both ways. Usually based around the George's river sailing club at dolls point. Southerly you can go up to the cooks river at kyeemagh. And on a nor Easter do the same in reverse. Botany Bay sup club on Facebook go in groups every now and then. Team up with them. Well worth it.
La perouse there's plenty. Out and around bare island or down to the container terminal.
Depending on what your level you can go from beach to beach. There's plenty of water.
Out on the harbour depending on the wind there's options all over the joint.
It's no secret anymore but Bundeena is well worth it. The locals are harmless!!!!!

Most of the locals are harmless. There is one bloke though, a balding cameraman from network 7. He can be pretty mean at times.

Ain't that right Cam?

If you want to commune with nature, consider Akuna Bay or Cottage Point. They're in the heart of the national park up here in the northern part of Sydney and have lots of glassy nooks and cranny's to poke around in.

Hang a left out of Careening Cove, Kirribilli for a scenic paddle and turn back at Chowder Bay. Either take a straight line or loop the bays and check out the houses. It's a good way to see the sunrise and southerlies and frequent ferries can provide more challenging conditions at times.
