The message below was cut and pasted from an e-mail so sorry for the lack of logos and fancy headings.

I'll try to post it again later in a different format.

The lead up events mentioned at the bottom are on from Thursday 20/2/08 if anyones keen. I'll be giving it a go tomorrow if anyone else is keen.

Cheers,

Sam.

Frequently asked questions?

I'm an individual swimmer so can I have an escort boat instead of a paddler?

Yes, absolutely the minimum requirement for indivduals is a paddler you can have a boat or even a boat and a paddler.

Do duos need a boat?

Duos can escort each other in a paddlecraft. In fact we Oceanpaddler.com is offering a $400 prize for the first duo across the line that escorts each other this way.

What type of paddle craft can enter?

Absolutely anything, we welcome any sort of craft. If you are entering in a dragon boat you will need your own escort boat.

Are there any paddling races prior to the event?

Thursday 21st Feb we have a 6.5k race at Manly Oceanworld. It is called the Bavarian Bash and is on every 2nd Thursday night at 6.30pm. Contact [email protected] for more info.

Any idea what the distance is between the two bridges..and is it back again or just one way?

It sounds like a great event.

I think the distance is around 13-14 km with a start almost under the bridge and finish at Manly.

Should be a lot of fun and if people from interstate were keen to have a go then we could always organise some hire boards.

entry for the noosa festival of surfing MARATHON SUP RACES closes next wednesday. They have extended the deadline by a few days. Should be lots of fun. There is a 22km race from coolum to noosa and a 38km race from Mooloolaba to Noosa. Brian Keulana, Dave Parmenter, James Watson and Chris De Aboitiz will be competing. some people are using it as a lead up to the molokai challend in Hawaii.
There is a whole bunch of non professional people giving it a go too, so if you can make it up to noosa - come a long for a paddle!
The SUP surfing comp should be pretty awesome too. Its already booked out though. Lets pray for another cyclone swell!
