Not sure where you are elbeau, but the east coast north of Coffs is a mess...waitng...waiting. Still its always offshore in the shaping room.

Took a sickie yesterday and headed down to Point Leo in the arvo - great little 2-3 foot waves and better still I was the only one out there for two brilliant hours of sunshine. It's amazing how much better you are at surfing when there is no one around. I guess there is no pressure on you to look cool.

I celebrated the first day of spring with a surf after work. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon with nobody else out because the surf was too small. I played in knee high waves until sunset.

I live in Geraldton Boardbumps. I have had a hernia operation and can't surf for 3 weeks. I was hoping to surf by proxy. It has been nice and glassy here for a change (teethgrind)

I used to live in Point St in the 70s and 80s. Learn't windsurf in the early mornings just as it was all happening. That was in my first life. Its green over here, with forests.

We have just bought another house in Nambucca heads. We did a 3 month tour of Australia last year looking for likely places. Most of Australia was as dry as a chip except for the Eastern seaboard. Some of the prettiest country I've seen. And Scotts Head looks like a good spot to spend the weekends. Geraldton is nice enough, friendly people, good surf etc but the wind sets in for about 8 months of the year. Near death experiences on a bowkite have persuaded me that SUP is probably a better option.

Chicken. Nambucca is a nice town, about an hour south of me. Paul Joske is the local board builder, Valla Surfboards a good friend of mine. Is sunset a good SUP spot in Gerro, It was always a full wave.

Went out at Flinders today. Paddled to Cyrils then to another break a little further down the coast. Got a bit nervous being alone and the reef looked a bit gnarley.

Paddled back to Cyrils and got a couple of waves ... and got worked a few times. Let's say the swell was quite muscular today. Surfers were good value. They called me into waves and hooted a bit when I got some.

Paddled over to Big Left and got several waves in a row. When the sets came in the waves filled the bay. They don't call Big Left for nothing. Got some excellent waves and got worked some more. I do better going right on my forehand.

The wind was a little onshore so it was lumpy enough to make standing around on the board a tad tricky. Gave up and caught a wave almost all the way to the beach. Caught a reform and that took me all the way in.

Went up to the paragliding launch and flew for about 50 minutes. A little bit cross and light but fun to bomb the ridge.

Stopped in at the brother-in-law's store at Balnarring for a pretty decent coffee.

Drove home and bought a box of rough red to go with dinner.

The end.

Isn't it a joy. Surf's to small for anyone else and you're out there getting stoked on wave after wave on a sunny afternoon. Priceless

Sunset is ideal. Some of the best SUP waves in Australia are in Geraldton. Lots of waves that break out to sea then run back into deep water. No gnarly shorebreak to deal with. If only the WIND would stop

Yeah, I know what you mean! Then along came windsurfing, and Gerro became famous. One of the old boys is over here from the old days, his name eludes me right now, lived in the bay just north of gerro.

Okay, but really it looks so (as my kids would say so Gumby, gay) The windsurfers always seem so ? juddery, fighting their equipment while the kiteboarders seem more to, flow with the elements.

Left for Inverloch, about 2 hours drive from Melbourne in S/E Victoria, on Saturday morning. Beautiful sunny day, waves were 3-4 foot but closing out at the surf beach. Both my biceps were quite sore - probably from Wednesday - so it wasn't a long session in the surf for me. It was great to get my head wet in the clear cold water. In the afternoon I paddled out to my favourite sand island in the inlet and spent a few hours fishing with my daughter, soaking up the spring sunshine. Ended up catching 3 good sized fighting australian salmon using metal lures - casting out as well as trawling a lure back to shore - great day. I fed my Jack Russell "Pippa" two fillets - she loves loves em.

Sunday morning I paddled to the island with my son, it was cloudy, a bit windy and we caught jack all.

Sounds like a good day had by all, especially Pippa. I love the way SUP provides a source of enjoyment for everyone in the family. Have been considering getting the missus one. The dog already is an old hand.

Just wanted to celebrate not wearing a wetsuit today. My theory was because I wasn't planning on falling in. Melbourne turned on a ripper of a day - had a great thee hour session at the Pines. Long, long 2 foot clean foot reforming waves, so much fun. Saw a guy, who reminded me of greenroom, doing these amazing headstands while surfing - wish I took my camera now. Kids busted the sucker so I have to get another one.

Went down the the back beach today at Geraldton. Small to medium surf with about twenty surfers out. Watched them for a while with no one getting any decent rides. Watched for a while longer because of the hangover from last night then finally dragged the 11'2'' out and got wet. Paddled slowly out past the pack over to a quiet spot by myself. Not expecting much as have been away from surfing for almost a month due to a hernia repair plus of course the hangover. First decent size wave came in minutes and paddled easily into it. Turned back hand moved to the nose and proceeded to gat one of the waves of my life. Perched on the nose as the wave walled up, trailing the paddle and just ahead of the curl for about 200 metres. Sublime. The starboard is phenomenal. None of the other surfers even looked like getting a half way decent ride.

Caught my first SUP wave today. I got a Starboard 12'6" last Thursday and have been paddling it on flat water. Tonight there was a bit of chop around so took it next to the break water at the harbour where the chop wraps around and comes in clean. It was only knee high shore break but I went fast enough to foot steer so I'm claiming it
