At the alley today and now truly believe the 7th seal has been broken and the apocalypse/ end if the world is nigh....bloke on a 10ft plus sup using a standard double blade surf ski paddle, kneeling to paddle on to the wave then standing up holding one end of the blade as a handle while trying to paddle/ turn the board.....he crashed into several proners because he couldnt turn properly.........then continually repeated the process.......he had a leash from the board to his ankle and another leash from his body to the paddle........wtf......and of course he went straight to the centre of the proner pack take off point pissing everyone off with his lack of board control.....the proners had good reason to hate the sups today....

There is an old saying Trooper.

It goes like this "You can't educate and idiot". Sounds to me like this bloke was an idiot.

Either that or he couldn't give a freckle about anyone else.

Whichever it was he shouldn't have been out there.

ET.

Guys riding sups don't bother me as in the old argument prone verses sup.
But I've had JC charging at me at snapper and I just watch him rip even tho
he is inches away I trust him and love it,then we have a the guy on a blue
starboard who frightens the life out of me.I've only been mowed down once
in the last few years and that was a sup dude knee paddling onto waves and
he got a mouth full and fked off real quick.Respecting others safety is number
one and having fun is second in my book.

Oh yeah I missed that

I remember in one of the many debates about people purchseing their first sup without any surf knowledge.
The stores selling them would give a verbal listen at point of sale I guess this is still happening but with so many
new stores selling them are they all giving this important advice or moving onto the next sale?

My surf sup is the first board I grab when heading out but when the crowds are up there is no way it is fun! Even tho im very experienced and capable, sups are just almost impossible to get out of tight situations in crowds without an injury or near miss...ill grab a shorty or lb every time if it's busy....
