Wondering what you stand-up paddlers think of this new invention. It can easily be modified to work with SUPs! I'd be very interested in your opinions.

---------------
A new product making it easier to mount your surfboard on a roof rack has just launched on Kickstarter. Created by an aerospace engineer living in San Diego, this new product has the potential to redefine surfboard transportation. It takes the hassle out of getting your board to the beach.

The aerospace engineer, Benjamin Taylor, says he invented it while on his way into work.

“One day, while driving into work, I had a light bulb moment!” he says.

Since then Taylor has been designing and engineering the CrossBo to work with standard roof rack systems and almost any surfboard. He believes there are a lot of surfers out there looking for a solution like this. A product that is fast, easy and simple to use and doesn’t require bolted-on hardware.

The CrossBo will be on Kickstarter for 30 days (ending September 3rd) and Taylor hopes to raise more than $90,000 to pay for expensive tooling and manufacturing costs. Following that, if this surfboard product is successful, he plans to use the same idea for SUPs, skis and snowboards.

Use the following link to find the CrossBo on Kickstarter.

I don't know about the product but the first section of the video is pretty funny.... who takes that long?

i want something that holds a 14ft lightweight board steady in 30+kts while i get the straps on. That thing, maybe strapped to the board first, might do the trick? It needs trials though.

He's got a mini van and he's strapping a short board to the roof of it, Why? You could fit a quiver of sups in that car he's driving!!

The very last shot is funny too coz the surf absolutely sucks, super crowded and barely breaking

good on him tho it is pretty cool to invent something and to try make something out of it is even better

I rarely travel to the surf by myself and/or carry 2 sups. The idea is good but might need a 'stackable' attachment for multiple boards.

As sup46 mentioned - after having a couple of boards fly off the roofracks when reaching for a tie-down - it has merit as a simple temporary board holder.

There is an extension kit in the works for multiple boards, as well as a locking mechanism that will be available immediately (waiting on parts to put a pic up on kickstarter). It's also very strong and durable. No need for straps if you're using it. So, not meant to be a temp board holder, but you're welcome to purchase it for that purpose!

Thanks for your feedback guys!

Brlliant idea. Love to see the load rating. Bigger boards at higher travel speeds potentially create bigger drag and stress on the unit.

Your video says a lot but doesn't really demonstrate much. You show lots of random people saying how wonderful it is, and you tell us how qualified you are to build the thing, but there is very little in the way of product demonstration. You sound more like a salesman than someone showing a revolutionary new product.

You need to show it in action and prove that it is a viable product in use. The demonstration you show is of one short board and a short drive to the local beach. That's fine if that's what the product is for.

What I would like to see is, fit 1-2-3 boards of varying sizes. Focus on bigger boards and/or multiple boards because that's when you need a roof rack. Short boards normally go inside the car. Drive around at highway speeds with lots of tight bends and bumps and dirt roads. Show us how secure the boards are.

Thanks for your feedback Gorgo. Good advice. I can tell you that the CrossBo can handle all of that (high speeds, different boards, etc.). But you're right, including it in the video would have said it better.

I will try to shoot some of your requests on a new YouTube video. If you go to our website www.theCrossBo.com and sign up for the newletter. I will notify you when it is available.

Thanks again!

As a lazy surfer it like it. Would be ideal for sups that don't fit in the car. But no shipping to Aus

The Lockrack works for loading SUP's in the wind - our downwind guys are using them and will never go back to straps. And you have a distributor in Oz: lockrack.com.au
