As promised Here is the movie from my little WA desert mission over easter

http://exposureroom.com/f79c05f979244c8e88925c914627c026/

There were truly some leg burner waves to be had !! Some rides were over 40 seconds long!

- Tools used for this mission were the New Starboard 10'5 , my Vio POV1 helmet cam

(thanks to

www.launchhelmetcams.com

for sponsoring me with one of these excellent units)

My little travelling sony HC3 HDV camera was used for tripod / landscapes

- for the tech guys out there : the edit was done in final cut studio (hdv transcoded to an intermediate format - native HDV SUCKS!)

with 3d titling done in Cinema 4d and motion

And magic bullet looks for some fancy color grades!!

By the way - over easter there was a rogue croc buzzing around the place - we found out later that we were snorkeling in a bay (150 m offshore in 10 ft murky water) less than 1km from where it was spotted 2 hours later!!!

if anyone wants the direct download to KEEP the movie - here it is!

spaces.hightail.com/resolve/675778126/b8ec5b78286d6f304d5f05ca8f4a2bbc

you will need the quicktime player to play it (its a free download if you dont already have it) -as i have encoded in h.264 - by FAR the best quality / file size codec out there right now!! gives the same quality as wmv (windows media viewer) at HALF the file size.

its a 45mb movie - so the quality is really nice - give it a while to download.

Top movie.
Well worth the 14hr drive to get there I bet. Was that easter monday?
I'm going up there in May so I hope they have dragged that crocs body out of the water. Unfortunately for the croc and for us they shot it on our favourite break up there. Tigers are enough of a worry without having a rotting croc around.

Great quality-that white paddle could be hard to find in the white water?

nice little vid

the combination of land and helmet shots are great

sick waves too

im so over watching the sucker cam on the nose looking back at the rider (better than watching nothing even if its just someones hairy ankles)

keep them coming matt

thanks for the positive comments - truth be known that wave is such a gun and run that there is very little opportunity for surfing cutbacks , reos and floaters - which i rate very highly - i will try and get more rail to rail action on my next vid. And hopefully a view from inside the barrel too!

re: the white paddle - i dont drop my paddle so not a problem - but i reckon a dark paddle would be hard to find in unbroken water - maybe safety orange or yellow is the ultimate color?

May is a pretty sick month up there -enjoy-i will be back up there early may - heading further north towards exmouth..

It certainly is a high performance wave. Take up a shortboard aswell next time. You would have been absolutely tearing up those sets.
