Cool we get some group action at last!!!
Havent seen anything other than normal 10-12ft boards about so it could be fairly even in terms of equipment.
Any advise out there on whether its better to fit deeper fins or just stick with the normal surf one?

Good luck...I did dthe Cottesloe to Rottnest swin a few times and it is super hard work....a downwinder back the other way would be awesome....you get some fairly good sized windswell in the middle once the wind picks up....we were training about 5ks off the beach and it was about 20-30 knots and I kept losing site of the support boat in between the waves....

Keep an eye out here for the video of this event, I'll be shooting HiDef from a Jet Ski and media boat as well as have a Gopro Wide on World Champ OC1 paddler Karel Jnr. Any SUPs in the race I'll cover those as well.

If the "Doctor" comes good on the day, should be an awesome downwind race.

Wouldn't it need to be a westerly for a downwinder from Rotto?

Southerly or Sth-Westerly would do it.

I would imagine it to be a tough paddle on either Southerly or Sth westerly, but then I'm woosy in the wind.

hi Cranky Im going to give it a go. Ive got starboard 11.2 so thats just gonna have to do. Ive just spent the last week in Albany and did some downwinders in the harbour in 25 to 30 knots. Great fun but no swell only wind waves.

Actually no, the race route would suit either and it will run in the opposite direction if for some reason the wind is reverse. They have allowed a 2 day window.
